Made up about this news today, one thing, anyone think we might of handed him a longer contract then 3 years? Was a bit suprised about that after we gave Martinez a five year one?

Wonder if there will be an option already in place to make it longer if his first season is a success.

Martinez didn't get five straight up (I think he may have got four?) but he got a new contract and an extension after the first season.

Recently? They may have had a cracking youth system but what is it like now? I know a few saints fans were saying he had a problem with the youth side of things - perhaps as they don't have that many at present showing the level of promise required?

There could be two ways of looking at this. Firstly, as GlosBlue said, we've learnt our lesson and secondly, he is our bridging manager to be here until we can attract the Mourhino type managers.

Quick question, don't know much about Koeman's managerial ability pre Southampton. What had him tipped for Arsenal or Barca, was it just how he did at Southampton?

Hype more than owt else I would say, based on a good season or two at Saints.

Koeman is the sensible choice out of everyone. I personally suggested him weeks ago as well and until emery looked bang on, my vote for 2 months in the polls was always koeman.

Solid team, good recruitment, scores goals, balance and highly respected name, with league experience. Everything you could possibly want in our situation without taking a gamble on an unknown.
