Ronald Koeman discussion

It does, but as in all things football we don't (and probably never will) know what was said behind the scenes. We've all known Lukaku wanted away for a long time (who could have missed it). Maybe in his end of season chat something was said that made Koeman doubt his commitment for this season if we kept him,or maybe a gentleman's agreement was in place that if we failed to get CL it was agreed he could go.We all know replacing a 20 a year plus striker (guaranteed) is well nigh impossible, probable for the Chelsea's.City's.PSG's.Real Madrids and now obviously the Man U's of this world, but we are years away from this level. If Giroud was our main target his commitment to his career must come into question, given it's reported his wife makes his playing decisions. We just have to accept Koeman had a list of targets that either wouldn't come or we couldn't afford.Just our luck to get a billionaire owner when teams like Bristol City,Wolves,WBA,Stoke and Fulham join the club.

"The poorest billionaire in the world" to quote a gentleman currently in absentia round these parts lol

Yes, we needed a man with Moshiri's current wealth to come on board round about the turn of t' century when such critters were a rarity in football.

Instead we are a decade late and several billion quid short :(

Everton that.

We spent £45m on someone who takes set pieces. Getting him in became almost obsessive and then we were left with the most glaring gap of all. Almost certainly meaning our top signing will also be less affective than he would have been with a target man. Absolute shambles it was. A massive error by Everton as we carry very little threat going into any games this season now, especially in the big games like today.

I thought we could win virtually any game at Goodison last year. Visitors knew we could beat them. I already think the opposite today against Spurs.

A catastrophic error in my opinion.

The other thing I don't buy into is the fact suitable replacements for Lukaku were too costly.

Fair enough, I accept that.

But every player is "too costly" these days the way Monopoly money is chucked around.

And at the heels of the hunt, we badly need an experienced striker....the finished article as it were, to lead the line.

He is not going to cost any less in January or next summer than he would have keast week, that's for sure.

He will likely cost much more.
