cos yeah, what has who we sign or when we sign them got to do with Koeman
Doh!What was I thinking, I feel so embarrassed now you've pointed it out
I don't get this whole prices were ridiculous. We got £90m for Lukaku, if Benteke etc were £50m, then so be it.

And yet and yet you were talking about the prices being so high because he left it too late...Who said anything about bargains? If he needed a target man for the way his team is set up to Play and he had three months to get one, don't then cry arse afterwards that you never got one. He's the manager on oodles of cash to set us up to win, not bemoan his ill fortune.
Sigurdsson is one of the best players in our squad, he's far more than "someone who takes set pieces". I agree we should have got a target man in I don't think it's Koeman's fault that it didn't happen. Managers aren't responsible for everything at football clubs these days.We spent £45m on someone who takes set pieces. Getting him in became almost obsessive and then we were left with the most glaring gap of all. Almost certainly meaning our top signing will also be less affective than he would have been with a target man. Absolute shambles it was. A massive error by Everton as we carry very little threat going into any games this season now, especially in the big games like today.
I thought we could win virtually any game at Goodison last year. Visitors knew we could beat them. I already think the opposite today against Spurs.
A catastrophic error in my opinion.
If I am honest with you masc, most of the forum members you refer to are absolutely four square beside Koeman on this point.
Certainly I am.
Why buy a striker, or a player in any other position comes to that, if you feel he will not enhance the squad?
What we will not accept is why, that being the case, we went right ahead and sold our striker and him with two years left on his contract without first making sure that a striker whom did tick all our boxes was brought on board.
Right now that decision appears to have been bonkers.
Yes. There is a difference between paying normal prices at the start of the window and hunting for bargains at the endAnd yet and yet you were talking about the prices being so high because he left it too late...
The prices weren't normal at any point in that transfer window!Yes. There is a difference between paying normal prices at the start of the window and hunting for bargains at the end
Koeman is a coach first and foremost, he and Walsh will have talked about who they want maybe even have drawn up a list. But no way is Koeman involved in the negotiations to bring players in to the club. Why would he be?cos yeah, what has who we sign or when we sign them got to do with Koeman

It does, but as in all things football we don't (and probably never will) know what was said behind the scenes. We've all known Lukaku wanted away for a long time (who could have missed it). Maybe in his end of season chat something was said that made Koeman doubt his commitment for this season if we kept him,or maybe a gentleman's agreement was in place that if we failed to get CL it was agreed he could go.We all know replacing a 20 a year plus striker (guaranteed) is well nigh impossible, probable for the Chelsea's.City's.PSG's.Real Madrids and now obviously the Man U's of this world, but we are years away from this level. If Giroud was our main target his commitment to his career must come into question, given it's reported his wife makes his playing decisions. We just have to accept Koeman had a list of targets that either wouldn't come or we couldn't afford.Just our luck to get a billionaire owner when teams like Bristol City,Wolves,WBA,Stoke and Fulham join the club.If I am honest with you masc, most of the forum members you refer to are absolutely four square beside Koeman on this point.

I agree. But to pretend that he's not involved, and that he isn't given constant daily updates is an errorKoeman is a coach first and foremost, he and Walsh will have talked about who they want maybe even have drawn up a list. But no way is Koeman involved in the negotiations to bring players in to the club. Why would he be?
The days of Brian Clough travelling the length of the country to knock on a targets front door and have a brew and a chat are long gone. Negotiations between clubs are left to the "money men" these days.
