Ronald Koeman discussion

Cloud cuckoo land, Tim my son.

The apologists dismissed every voice that protested the embarrassing performances in the last few league games on the ground that we were playing City, Chelsea and Spurs as the rantings of "bedwetters".

Well tonight we played an average Italian side and it was exactly the same.

So I hold out no great hope that this current shower under this woeful coach are going to string a four match winning run together.

No sir.

It just ain't happening

The ready made excuse is already in place mate if the Mancs beat us, we had to play tonight and travel to Italy, so the players are tired from the jet lag.

Wah wah wah.....the reason we are where we are is that the teams above us spend a lot more money than us and have better players.

We have had a load new players, at least give them a chance to bed in.

Yes it is not nice to see, yes we have to go through some pain sometimes, but I predict the panic will soon be over.

We've got progressively worse with no sign of any improvements, I think if there was even the tiniest hint that we were improving and gelling as a team then it wouldn't be half as bad. The problem is the football is so negative and we've just been battered by an average side with the majority of the squad looking like they have no faith in Koeman.

I pray I'm proved wrong but I don't see things getting significantly better.

Such as? Who's your choice for our next manager who is also a realistic option?

Dunno

I only know Ronald Koeman was an at best slightly above average manager when we signed him and has done nothing to alter that opinion since. Certainly nowhere near good enough to be chasing after him the way we did and paying so much money to.

We finally get some money in, or so it seems, and we bin off a failing manager and go get in this.....this bland dull uninspiring human. Our majority shareholder will hopefully exclude himself from the selection committee if he thinks getting Koeman in was a way to match other big teams in the Prem and put our name on the map.

If we are gonna be a bit of a crap club for the rest of our existence then please god let us be entertained a bit whilst we do so.

Keep Koeman as we have some decent fixtures coming up.
I would be over the moon with a draw against the mancs.
Push on then with Bournemouth and Burnley at home.

I'm not apologising for him in any way. The fact I'm saying a free pass on Sunday is the biggest indictment on him you'll find. I simply can't conceive any way we will compete with United. That's why I say free pass. It's damning on Koeman and the board if anything.

I know you are not a Koeman apologist, Tim.

I read your posts.:)

My comments were directed toward them as do make excuses for the bugger and have been doing so since the long, winless run last fall.

I like Koeman's demeanour and bluntness on a personal level, but if he doesn't sort this very quickly then I'll turn. Tactically I'm beginning to get very concerned.

Just because what you asked for didn't come to fruition you should still be able to have SOME sort of an idea of how you want to set up your team. In the Spurs and Chelsea matches a lot of people were commenting that it seemed he was setting up his team as if he had a target man up front even tho none were there. He's paid EXTREMELY well to have an alternative idea of how to play. We are going to be without the striker he asked for for 4 months. Do we just say 'nah, he's fine, he didn't get the striker he wanted' every single time we play absolutely rubbish?

I think it was always going to be a huge task to bring in a quality striker to replace Rom. Koeman probably expected the club to keep Rom if no replacement could have been found. I think Koeman was told we had a player lined up right up, and until the Barklay fiasco on deadline day (typical Everton) ...... so since the window closed, and Fraudhad called his bessie on live TV to put the blame on Koeman saying `it is Ron`s team now`in effect passing the buck ....

Koeman now realises he has got to work with what he has got and I think that`s been the case for the last three games ..... so still early doors in my opinion. Koeman is still finding out how the board conducts business and this boards idea of success is premier league survival with the riches it brings them

Players don't need to have to bed in to show a bit of passion though Thomas, be able to actually pass the ball, have a bit of movement, have a shot on goal.

I think parts of this are right, but, at the end of the day, he's the manager. He decides how he wants the team to perform on the pitch. If they don't do as he instructs, play someone else. He's made a ton of changes but there are certain players who seem to play regardless. He did this at Southampton, he did it last year. I think if this happens again this year, at the start of the season none the less, he'll be out on his rear. You can't just write off 10+ games a season every year trying to find your feet. Not when you are in the top 10 in WORLD FOOTBALL for salary paid.
