Ronald Koeman discussion

Agree, but he must produce results and performance in the next 3-4 games or I'm afraid his time maybe up.

Who would we replace him with? Koeman would likely write about his experiences at the club and what it was like to work
for a professional theatre mogul who specialises in `my fair lady on drury lane` and an Iranian accountant who wants to double his share value
by way of planning gain.

He would state how he was forced to sell his top striker for a cheap part exchange deal with a washed up has been drunk
in return, and when he questioned said players lifestyle was largely ignored but proved right a matter of weeks later .....
He could also expose the `project` for what it is smoke and mirrors, sell to buy, and incompetence from a pathetic board

Koeman publicly stated he wanted a striker and a centre back for about 3 times, putting pressure on the board to deliver. It's crystal clear and no doubt. To think we sell Lukaku and Koeman does not want a replacement is delusional.

Um I actually blame the board because they should make deals happened but they failed. And we sell to buy so without selling Barkley and Niasse we got no chance.

I didn't say he didn't want a replacement! he obviously did and he give them a few names. The problem is if none of these names want to play for our club then you need to have other options. Koeman said himself that the next tier down were not worth getting in. Maybe he should have a better list?

You cant force players to play for you! If Giroud didn't want to come here then what should the board do? Kidnap him?

Yet again with this sell to buy nonsense people are totally ignoring wages.

The buck always stops with the manager for me. If we DID need to sell to buy (and there is zero evidence of this) then that's what he should have done. Play with the cards you are dealt.

We did but badly, we failed with his most important request ..... a replacement striker !
Walsh was brought in on a high salary to do this job yet Koeman gets the blame ??

We will buy a striker in January, once we have sold Barkley ............... wait and see

I think a few of us that terrorised the Southampton forums when we appointed him need to head back over and apologise to them, we thought we were having them off by taking their manager and gloating about it, when the reality was they knew the horror show that they were offloading to us.

If you do go back on there, can you ask them if they'd like him back ?

I agree with this, he is 100% open to criticism when producing results like this.

I just think the calls for his head are a bit Geordie esque and rather over the top at this point.
I don't know. I wouldn't call for his head personally because I'm fairly confident he'll turn it round and we'll plod to 7th-9th with a couple of good runs and another bad one somewhere along the line.

I can certainly see why people are though. Our performances have been horrendous so far this season, seriously appalling. 10 games in and we haven't put a good 90 minutes together yet - that is unacceptable. When you factor in the money spent, and our generally terrible away record since he came, he's not that far away from being under serious pressure as far as i'm concerned. A loss on Wednesday would probably sway me to be honest, I think a 3rd consecutive early elimination from a cup would be enough to tell me it wasn't working.

The manager was denied funds at the end of the window to get the striker he wanted.

I don't know the reason why, but it happened.

You do not know this in any way shape or form so stop lying.

Koeman himself said the players he wanted did not want to come here for whatever reasons. It happens. We should have had a better back up option.

Also to be fair we did sign a promising Spanish striker who scored a decent amount of goals in La Liga last season plus England and Manchester United's record all time goalscorer. So lets not pretend we did not sign strikers, we obviously just did not sign the right ones for the system he elects to play. We DO have strikers at the club.

Koeman wanted Rooney

But, he didn't want him as the only proven striker at the club...

He had no choice it was part of the Lukaku deal, we were desperate for cash they were desperate to get rid of Rooney before he did something stupid, like get done for drink driving and be all over the national press...........

Agree re not the only striker

Top 4 absolutely should be a realistic target though. Not an expectation of course, but it is definitely realistic for us to challenge for that position. It's only 3 years since we last did it, and since then Leicester have won the league and Koeman's own Southampton side have missed out on the CL places by just 3 points. I don't know why people insist on putting the top 6 on such ridiculous pedestals, teams can (and do) compete with them

Everton didn't finish top 4 three years ago.

Leicester winning the league was a great, great achievement, but it came in a year when all the title contenders were having a down year. Plus people seem to be forgetting Leicester had a really good team that year. It's not like they won the league with a team full of terrible players. Taking nothing away from them though! Hate to say it but that team is miles ahead of this years Everton in terms of quality and balance.

Who's putting top 6 on ridiculous pedestals? We were talking top 4.

No idea mate who I'd replace him with!!
I still have faith he will turn it around, that's why I say he must get results and performance in his next games. It's strange that the second half yesterday was probably the best I've seen us play all season yet we get thumped 4-0!! That's not acceptable and my concern about Koeman is apart from maybe City last season (4-0) I can't think of a game were we gave a performance for 90 mins since he's been here.. that's a worry!

BTW I'm not in the get Unsworth in corner if he does eventually go.
