Ronald Koeman discussion

If we ever come to a point where an Everton manager isn't under fire from fans after failing to win in 6 and losing 3 games in 8 days with an aggregate score of 10-0, I hope i'm no longer around to see it.

There's every right that he's under fire. I don't think people can dispute that.

But I think, looking at it objectively, there are caveats. It's crunch time now. The next four games are make or break for him. He's said as much himself.

It's four games though.

Nobody was saying this after the City game or the Hadjuk game.

So you're contradicting yourself.

It hasn't been a slow decline.

Martinez oversaw a slow decline.

Last season Koeman improved us and we moved up to 7th - the minimum we should expect.

The start to the season has been really tough. But it's four games. He has the same amount to rectify it...

All that is happening here IMO is, people who were still not satisfied with his first season, despite him improving us and despite him getting us european football again and going to be on the offensive until things turn around.

We have had a poor run so far that is all.

Ronko is not to blame for Lukaku leaving, nor Barkley being a mentally weak character, but some are using that against him also.

He isn't going to win with everyone. I personally look forward to him turning it around and the team getting back on track.

I agree with this, he is 100% open to criticism when producing results like this.

I just think the calls for his head are a bit Geordie esque and rather over the top at this point.

I think a few of us that terrorised the Southampton forums when we appointed him need to head back over and apologise to them, we thought we were having them off by taking their manager and gloating about it, when the reality was they knew the horror show that they were offloading to us.

Did the board force him to buy 3 players to play the exact same role whilst already having someone decent (albeit injured) to play there anyway?

I think he was strenghtening all round with the extra games. I think he had a plan that was dependent on a decent replacement for our
outgoing striker he mentioned two we got none.
It then transpires we were prostituting Barkley out last minute, as confirmed by `40 year loans r us Fraudhad` as per his call to white

the board will sack him Unsy can then let them know what the hell has been going on!
It stinks our key midfielder in Ross wont sign - Sheedy leaves - its organised chaos!
he will get sacked I cannot see him turning it around!

What's Kevin Sheedy got to do with anything lol

Yeah that makes sense but there is strengthening and then there is overkill. Getting Klaassen and Rooney in made sense, then paying 50M or whatever for Sigurdsson doesnt add up for me when we were glaringly weak in other areas. None of them are bad players either which makes it more annoying.

Barkley was getting prostituted out because he refused to sign a contract. There is no real hidden motive there.

There are caveats yeah. I said last week that I think talk of sacking him etc is premature, but it's not totally crazy. It's all very well him effectively saying 'I have these bad spells sometimes, it'll be fine' but that just doesn't cut it at a club like this. We can't just have boom and bust periods every season, where we don't win for 10 games then go on a good run then implode again. That's what happened last year, and he's being paid very handsomely to improve on that.

The owner has gone on record as saying top 6 is the aim, we're currently 18th. We have got some serious improving to do, and it needs to start immediately.
