Ronald Koeman discussion

Two 'lucky' goals midweek, don't recall it mentioned. Anyway, Moshiri had better correctly pick the next manager. I'm sick to the back teeth of the ineptitude, mismanagement and the towering lack of ambition we've had to endure for thirty bloody years. I'm now going to eat some chocolate.

Koeman Bemoans Blues' Luck.

A frustrated Ronald Koeman said he could not question the spirit of his players after they did “everything” to try to force a comeback against stubborn Burnley.

Having dominated early on, Everton fell behind when Jeff Hendrick steered home against the run of play on 21 minutes.

The Blues then re-established their foothold on the game after the break but, despite chances for Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and two late penalty shouts for handball, Koeman’s men slipped to their second home defeat of the campaign against a Clarets side who remain unbeaten on the road this season.

“I am disappointed with the result but not the commitment and the belief of the players, because I thought that [today] was totally different and what you need to win the game,” said Koeman.

“But, in these circumstances, you need to score the goal in the first 20 minutes - I thought we started well but we missed some good chances.

“And, you know, if you analyse Burnley, if you go behind it’s really tough. They drop even further back, they are defensively and physically strong and you need to be at your creative best, and that wasn’t at the level that we needed to get at least one point.

“We tried everything. We tried to create chances, we had many crosses, we had some headers, and [they were] good chances.

“We were unlucky; they blocked every shot. That’s the situation the team is in.

"But the way we fought and the commitment we had today is the direction to go and to continue in.”

The international break means Everton now have a wait of a fortnight before travelling to newly-promoted Brighton and Hove Albion on 15 October, and Koeman added: “Maybe, yes [the break has come at a good time].

“Of course you like to work with the players every day to improve the team, but maybe in this situation it’s good to have the break.

“It’s all about the game in two weeks now and that’s what we need to prepare for.”

It is the same for me. And he's not stubborn like Bonny or Moyes. He does change his team if its not working out. He does make substitutions early. He has been badly let down by some of the players. No single manager gets the team selection right 100% of the time. But the players still do basics right. We aren't.

Of course that's right, but, the problem is after nearly every single game under Koeman the same things are being pointed out, why no width, why no pace, why 2 defensive midfielders, why square pegs in round holes, everyone else can see it, apart from him that is.

He's spent £142m this Summer (and £220m since he's been here) and he earns £6m a year, I expect to see something for that, but all I'm seeing week after week is cack.

I wouldn't mind if I could see what Koeman is actually trying to do in terms of tactics etc, but I can't, we've actually gone backwards.

Ancelotti or Tuchel would be an incredible appointment, but I can’t see either of them buying into the “project” with the squad currently at their disposal.

Whoever think Everton will get a famous name as manager are deluded. We just won't. At this point, Bill will bring Moyes back lol.

If you watch the interview hes actually said we don't have a creative player to break down a defence like burnleys.

I would say his days are definitely numbered, before Martinez got the boot there was a general feeling of apathy from the supporters, most had given up and we’re just waiting for the axe to be wielded, epitomised by taking about 700 fans to an away game (Sunderland). The players also appeared to give up.

For me personally and I think for quite a few others, we seem to have got to that stage with Koeman already.

Koeman has never really ‘got’ Everton, for all Martinez’ faults, from his first day he just seemed to get what being Everton manager meant and was all about.

The fans are turning, and for me once a manager loses the faith/backing of us who follow the club blindly, then his days are very numbered, and that very thin ice Koeman is currently standing on is cracking all around him.

Thing is, the new Moyes is the one whose confidence has already been shattered. He wouldn't be the same manager. But agreed, it's immensely disappointing to see him as the manager he is now. I feel overall very fond towards him despite the Baines/Fellaini debacle.

I remember at the beginning of this decade, there was a distinct sense that we would be that much better with just a bit more money to spend.

Agree with you completely. He's a completely different manager now. It's tough to see.

I have a lot of love for Davey. We were a good match. Not even arsed over the Baines/Fellaini thing. At the end of the day it was our choice if we wanted to accept it or not.

At United his win ratio was as good as LVG and Mourinho's. That's in the immediacy of the upheaval of a dynasty at that club, and with calamitous transfer dealings from above him.

I always felt sure that if he was given proper backing he would win things without a problem. Shame.

First thing, those players aren't going to be properly ready til next year mate. They also aren't the actual answer to our problems.

Second. We just won 3-0 sunderland, followed by a come back 2-1 against bournemouth.

We followed that up with a 2-2 capitulation over the ten men of Limassol, and a 1-0 drab affair with Burnley.

Seen our next few games?

Brighton. Away. We haven't won away since January and I can't see us winning there.

Lyon. Lol.

Arsenal. Lol.

Chelsea in the cup. Lol

I see your point. So when you put in a 3-0 performance and a comeback 2-1 performance it shows the players are playing for their manager and would have confidence risen.

Limassol - Ashley Williams plays a sunday league back pass and we concede. Then we play back passes for 20 mins. Then we fight again and get 2-1 up. Then we give away a silly FK and concede on a set piece. Its the players.

Burnley - We wanted pace and width for weeks. We got it. We started very well. Then the 1st shot on goal Burnley get they score thanks to cowardice by Schniderlin. If these players were against Koeman they would not have fought in the 2nd half. We needed to keep the shop shut and could have won this game 1-0 or 2-0 late on with the attack we had.

Now onto the next few games. Yes they are all tough. So if we sack Koeman now does that mean Unsy or whoever we get in will have us win against Lyon, Arsenal and Chelsea? The expectations on his shoulders will be huge.

I'm not exactly happy with Koeman's tactics and a couple of his signings but then that's the case with every manager. Just give him this season to see if he improves us and we get a direction and in the meanwhile the board should keep its eyes open for better replacement than him. Sacking him won't make us get to top 6 either. It will just make the fans happy for short term.

Today was a prime example of a team not playing for their manager.
I've heard rumblings that Baines and several others are sick of Koeman, and the complete lack of urgency and effort today stunk of a team that simply didn't care if they won or lost.

Similar to Martinez in his final weeks - it's untenable when you get to this stage.

We had 4 must-win home games after Utd. We won one, got out of jail with another, and have been beyond bad on the last two.

I'm not seeing progress, passion or pride.

Time to go.

Over to you, Mr Moshiri

He is a wealthier version of BK.
