Look at how much Liverpool have spent since fluking the League Cup on pennos in 2012. And now consider the number of trophies they have won in return..... exactly! In fact, it has been 14 years since LFC won a cup without penalties. Nit picking, but still relevant to my point that money doesn't always solve everything. Also, look at Blackburn, that went south pretty quick after they won the Prem in 95!
So I propose that we put Unsworth in charge of this Starting XI...

...and watch the performances (or at least the workrate) improve 100x. Sure we'd take a few hidings, of that I've no doubt and I can't even say with confidence we'd even finish top half. But with just a shade more ingenuity we'd have had Burnley buried long before their goal. I believe that XI would have provided such ingenuity.

I'm bored.
Kal - I expected August and September to be grim, and frankly expected us to be tonked by by Manu, Man City and Chelsea away. They are teams on fire while we are bedding in a hatful of new players, have a hoodoo against any of the top 6 clubs and a manager that does not know how to set up a team. A bending over was what I expected in probable / worst case. However, that said, with the players at his disposal, I would have expected a good performance would mean that we would beat / maybe Spurs at home, draw Atalanta away, and we should have been beating Limassol and Burnley at home. A good performance might mean we draw / beat one of the top 6 for a change, instead of the shafting we have come to expect.
In spite of the above, I would always optimistically hope that Everton would beat the life out of whoever is unfortunate to be in front of us, and would expect 100% from the players with the honour to wear the Royal Blue jersey. Just sometimes, you dont get what you wish for, though mate.
