Ronald Koeman discussion

Koeman was a good manager last season, so is he suddenly not this season?

He had us looking defensively solid for most of last season you can only presume that's through design rather than luck.

Personally I'd be willing to give him the chance to rectify the problems that have arisen before believing he needs to be sacked.

It is hard as we look devoid of confidence but he managed to drag us out of the Martinez mentality so he should be able to do similar again.

We are already in a relegation battle anyone that can't see that is blind

This.

As it stands, we are cannon fodder for any team in the league, apart from maybe Palace and you'd have to fancy them against us at the mo.

If anyone can think of a team that you expect us to beat, please post here.

As it's stands, I'd fancy any team in the league to turn us over at the mo.

The only variable is how many we'd lose by.

OUT.

We're not in a relegation battle after 7 games with 7 points on the board, stop being a drama queen ffs.
You're dead right mate. 7 points from 7 games, that's virtually a point a game, give or take. 38 games in a season, carry on at this rate and we'll have something along the lines of 38 points by my reckoning. Nobody's ever been relegated with 38 poi... oh.

Extremely fortunate to even have gotten them 7 points

Yeah and we'll be playing the Chavs, Utd, City and Spurs in every set of 7 games.

Drama queens the lot of you ffs.

You'd have all needed counselling if you'd have been around in the early 90's ffs.

My issue with Koeman is that he is failing in two key areas. Firstly his man management, or lack of it, is coming home to roost. I hear the arguments saying that is his style so that is what we signed up for, but if it isn't working, then it patently isn't right. Resolution of this problem is in one of two ways - change his style or change the manager. Secondly, RK has a reluctance to use all of the resources that are available to him and he created significant barriers because of his initial stance on both Niasse and Ross. Fortunately for RK, Niasse is so grateful (and deserving) of a second chance, that he has thrown RK a bit of a life line, but Ross's injury prevents that possibility of happening.

So is there sufficient desire in RK for him to address these two key issues? His apparent body language and whispers coming out about his changed attitude suggest that he may not have the fight to see it through. Does he have the ability to change sufficiently to man manage the major problem that he and the Club face? Personally, I think he is a square peg in a round hole and doesn't have the desire to see it through. I can't call it arrogance because I obviously don't know the man, but I sense a reticence to change borne out of the comments this last weekend when he blamed the players. He has done some damage to the obvious player / manager relationship and god only knows what is happening behind the scenes that we know nothing about.

By him continuing to use players out of position, persistence with laboured forward play, lack of the obviously needed width and the continued Martina & Williams, he has created a rift with fans that will take some repairing and I don't think he is capable of doing this. Howard Kendall had early issues but he was one of our own and that gave him the necessary time - RK will never have that same relationship and I think it is only a matter of time before fans voice for change will be too loud to ignore.

Agree with much of this. Comparing Koeman to Kendall, one thing Kendall benefited from was players with character. Kendall was famously one dodgy back pass away from the sack, his players fought through poor form. I can't imagine any of the players in this team not trying because the manager said something mean about them. Plenty of talent in our current squad, but some of them need to accept responsibility and step up.

I hate the man. I have been a season ticket holder for 25 yrs now and he has made me hate going the match. I personally wont be going again until he is out of my club. Stubhub will be busy as dark days lie ahead for EFC. We are in a relegation battle make no bones about it, just hope the board wise up to this and make necessary changes sooner rather than later

Another thing I don't understand, MaCarthy hasn't played for weeks, and ONeil is saying he could feature for Ireland this week, is this another player Koeman has fell out with. ?

Stop defending diabolical form. This ain't the 90s. We've spent 200m+ in 18 months. We pay our manager 6m a year. We're owned by a billionaire. And we ain't West Ham.
