Ronald Koeman discussion

Stop defending diabolical form. This ain't the 90s. We've spent 200m+ in 18 months. We pay our manager 6m a year. We're owned by a billionaire. And we ain't West Ham.
Who's defending it? I'm just saying it's not a relegation battle after 7 games ffs.

The prime issue is that we had a year to figure out who we were going to bring in to replace our 25 goal a season striker who we knew was virtually certain to be leaving this summer, and whoever was responsible for it, cocked it right up, which is unforgivable.

Koeman needs to get a grip of the players and find a formation / style that suits them and quick. If he doesn't he'll be toast by the end of the month.

Judging from his comments the past couple of weeks, he doesn't really want to be here. He is waiting for Everton to give him his payday so he can run another pseudo-ambitious club into the ground.

Koeman was a good manager last season, so is he suddenly not this season?

He had us looking defensively solid for most of last season you can only presume that's through design rather than luck.

Personally I'd be willing to give him the chance to rectify the problems that have arisen before believing he needs to be sacked.

It is hard as we look devoid of confidence but he managed to drag us out of the Martinez mentality so he should be able to do similar again.

He wasn't that good last season either.

We went from the middle of September until early December playing more or less the way we are now and getting more or less the same results......Chelsea away being the nadir.

The only "mentality" he "dragged us out of" then was the one of his own making.

And as others have pointed out, this current malaise began in the last two months of last season.

And by all accounts this need to be "dragged out" of one mentality or another has become an annual thing with him, dating back to his Saints days.

No sir, Mr. Ronald Koeman has not "suddenly" stopped being a good manager this season....he was not very good to begin with :pint2:

Yeah and we'll be playing the Chavs, Utd, City and Spurs in every set of 7 games.

Drama queens the lot of you ffs.

You'd have all needed counselling if you'd have been around in the early 90's ffs.
I don't think we'll be relegated or anywhere near it. Just helpfully pointing out that saying 'we're not going to get relegated when we've got 7 points from 7 games' is not really the best way of making your point, as it does, in fact, suggest that we're in for a relegation battle.

He delivered our best home form in PL history last season, off the back of our worst season of home form under Brown Shoes the prior season.

He did a very good job last year, don't try and re-write history to suit your agenda which has always been anti.

I did say this would happen. If you sell the Lukaku who was the leagues top scorer with one week left of last season, and then fail to replace his goals, or at very least the majority of them in a new striker, then you've set yourself up to fail miserably.

The signs were there last season that we didn't play so well against the top sides, and on many occasions against lesser sides Rom bailed us out time and time again. I knew once we decided to let him go this would become more apparent.

Just remember blues, we didn't have to sell him. He had two years left. The lack of ambition shown by selling him was huge in my eyes, but what's worse is failing to replace him. Two huge mistakes. We are seeing the consequences right now

Although.. I must add, this is only one part of the current many issues that need sorting.
