Ronald Koeman discussion

Ronald - if you're reading can you stop talking about the players not having any confidence please. Saying that just compounds the pressure and will not help build confidence...

Having said the above, I think what the board will do (which I agree with) is ride out the next few tough fixtures even if the results are poor, hoping then for an upturn later in Nov / Dec. And only sack him if we're looking like real relegation candidates later in Dec

Most fans are clueless couch potatoes crying for him to be axed. The reality as we know is that the results would most likely be better if he'd got the striker he wanted. If that's anyone's fault it Walsh's, but why would we sack him either?

You can't expect an instant revolution - and fans should support the team also (to an extent) through tough times - Koeman deserves more time, and respect in my view

If Koeman left, would Barkley reconsider his decision to leave? That'd be worth the payoff to Koeman in hard cash terms surely Mr Moshiri?

Great minds thinking alike, or fools rarely differing?

The more I think about it the more I see the parallels between Koeman and Smith. I am starting to think that a Moyes like character might be what we need and Dyche perhaps fits that role. If we had a really ruthless board, then as long as we replaced Dyche as soon as he had hit his ceiling and had some time to see if he could overcome it without losing momentum as a club, then I think I'd go with this. (Already thinking about how to get rid of the next manager... how Evertonian is that?)

Starting to feel sorry for Ronald now. Not a nice position to be in. The stress he must be under is not good for anyone's well being. I hope for an as dignified as possible exit for him asap.

We don't want Dyche.

We need a manager who's going to take this club somewhere completely different. Really push the name and towards where we want to be.

There's two options currently 'available' that while hard, are certainly attainable.

Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel would be a gamble to an extent, but it'd reinvigorate the entire club. Ancelotti is proven world class but I don't think he'd fancy it.

Tuchel would jump at the chance to work in the Prem, though.

Maybe if the striker he wanted was Messi or Ronaldo.

None of this would fix our defensive frailty. If Lukaku was still here we would be scoring a few goals more but still losing due to having an awful defence and an awful midfield set up.

I agree with the principle but unfortunately football has changed so much that you just can't risk it anymore.

Time isn't on anyone's side and Koeman has literally shown zero plan in about two months now of how he wants this team to play.

You're right on Walsh, and for me he should be right in the firing line, but at the end of the day it's down to the manager and at the moment there's no suggestion he's going to cut it.

I'd love to be proven wrong and for us to go and win our next two games, beat Leicester and get a result in Lyon. Things could have been very different even in our Europa League campaign if not for an awful miss from DCL against Limassol and a matter of inches last night when Gylfi hit the post.

But the fact is that while that's luck to an extent, we're in this situation because we're simply not good enough. Right through from the board to the players, it's not good enough.

Of course not you’re spot on . it’s a ridiculous suggestion, that said I think we can all see him the end looks inevitable now.
The more I think about it, my forecast that he will be gone after we are beaten by Arsenal on Sunday, is a bit wide of the mark.
The reason being that the fixture would have already been classed by Moshiri as one of his un-winnable games.
So the Barcelona manager elect, gets another couple of fixtures in which to excel!

He wanted another defender also, which he didn't get. But we did make a number of good signings - Pickford, Keane, Sigurdsson, Vlasic....

I just don't get how people are not seeing the bigger picture here. There are serious mitigating circumstances here - trying to gel so many new players, given how hard we know it can be to adapt for foreign players in particular. Not getting some of the players he wanted. Being back in Europe which is always tough. A freakishly tough opening fixture list. A few losses compound a lack of confidence

But compared to a Martinez or an Unsworth for example, Koeman has a world of experience. Fans should be supporting through this period to help the team, not make the situation even worse. But most are brainless couch potatoes with big opinions despite never having kicked a ball in their lives themselves, unfortunately.......

Tony Scott from the Echo straight onto the radio this morning praising last night's performance, saying Koeman deserves another run of games, and fans need to get behind him.

Embarassing paper with an agenda to patronise and belittle the club. Pathetic journalism from a paper in Bill Kenwrights hip pocket.

Tony Scott is a div though yeah?

Hate the whole board argument, are they to blame for not getting a striker and spending too long on the Gylfi chase... absolutely and they should be held accountable for that.

Koeman sets the team up, talks constantly about "pressure and the first man pressing the ball to win it back" but he never sets his team up for this, or he does and the team ignores him, am not sure which one is worse right now.

Sack him this morning, throw the world at Ancelotti and Tuchel and see what sticks.

One thing is for sure, lets not hold on for an extra 6 weeks like we did with bloody Martinez.
