Ronald Koeman discussion

He wanted another defender also, which he didn't get. But we did make a number of good signings - Pickford, Keane, Sigurdsson, Vlasic....

I just don't get how people are not seeing the bigger picture here. There are serious mitigating circumstances here - trying to gel so many new players, given how hard we know it can be to adapt for foreign players in particular. Not getting some of the players he wanted. Being back in Europe which is always tough. A freakishly tough opening fixture list. A few losses compound a lack of confidence

But compared to a Martinez or an Unsworth for example, Koeman has a world of experience. Fans should be supporting through this period to help the team, not make the situation even worse. But most are brainless couch potatoes with big opinions despite never having kicked a ball in their lives themselves, unfortunately.......

Football is not rocket science mate. Your last point is absolutely ridiculous.

There is no bigger picture here for me. We can not score goals and we can not keep a clean sheet. I don't need coaching badges to tell me that's not good or sustainable.

It doesn't matter if he did not get the players he wanted. He is paid an awful lot of money and as you say has a lot of experience so he should be able to adapt. Instead we seem to be playing the same way we would be if we had these missing players which is just mad.

Why was he resting players last night anyway?

Whilst a lot of this is clearly Koeman’s fault, I’d wager that a lot of the blame needs to land at Walsh and Kenwright’s door too. I’m not going to pretend I know who signed who so I won’t guess, but there was no strategy and they screwed him over bigtime by not getting a striker and centre half.

Davies was one of our best players last season, so Klaassen was bought for £25m - nonsensical, the position didn’t need filling. Even if you argue Klaassen should be played behind the striker it’s still a colossal waste as we got Rooney and Gylfi too.

They had a whole year to identify a right back other than Martina who wasn’t even good enough for Southampton, and yet they went for him anyway. The laziest, crappest transfer I can remember.

They have failed to replace Oviedo to provide an aging Baines with competition or the ability to have a break, Robertson from Hull is a very decent player has gone across the park for buttons.

We badly needed full backs and wingers, and we signed virtually none, instead just getting “name” players in with good reputations and stats.

Terrible summer and it’s all come to a head now. Koeman hasn’t had a clue what to do with them all season.

Ronald - if you're reading can you stop talking about the players not having any confidence please. Saying that just compounds the pressure and will not help build confidence...

Having said the above, I think what the board will do (which I agree with) is ride out the next few tough fixtures even if the results are poor, hoping then for an upturn later in Nov / Dec. And only sack him if we're looking like real relegation candidates later in Dec

Most fans are clueless couch potatoes crying for him to be axed. The reality as we know is that the results would most likely be better if he'd got the striker he wanted. If that's anyone's fault it Walsh's, but why would we sack him either?

You can't expect an instant revolution - and fans should support the team also (to an extent) through tough times - Koeman deserves more time, and respect in my view

Do you honestly believe that all of these inept performances are solely down to the lack of a striker?
Really?

Because he's given up and is just waiting for the pay off

Can we stop saying that the failure is due to a lack of a striker? Call it what it is, it's down to Koeman's bad buys in replacing Lukaku. Rooney Ramirez Onyekeru Niasse Calvert Lewin are all strikers, closevto 50 mill pounds worth in transfer fees. This is hardly the days of Osman behind McFadden or Cahill behind Fellaini due to a lack of strikers. We have strikers, Koeman just bought the wrong ones.

absolutely hate the ignorance of some people me, the arl "never kicked a ball or managed a team" so you don't have an opinion crap. nonsense

anyone who has watched football in their lives will look at our season and know it isn't good enough, not 1 bit, not scoring up front, not creating in the middle and absolutely woeful in defence

Agreed

It's an exceedingly lazy answer and patently untrue as well

As far as I'm aware, Roger Ebert never made a movie, but he sure knew what he was talking about when he critiqued them

And he stopped the rot, got us to 7th and got us into Europe. I know it’s bad now but let’s not devalue last season completely.
Let's not make it anything special because it really wasn't. He did what any decent manager could do with the players we had and that is about it. His record in the cups was shocking as was his away record. I'm not saying this in retrospect I said it at the time. His managerial record has never been anything to write home about.
