Ronald Koeman discussion

Some of the crap in this thread is embarrassing. A couple of bad months and people are saying we're villa under Lerner, getting relegated etc. Jesus Christ, why does everyone think we're going to get relegated everytime we have a bad patch.

Because there is nothing to suggest this bad patch can get any better, the squad is not sufficiently equipped to do so.

At Southampton he had Mane and Long. Both with pace to burn which makes it even more puzzleing as to why we havent got anyone similar. He knows that pace is crucial in this league

That's why I don't think he's the one who picks the all transfer targets. It's been reported that at Southampton that Les Reed was the one buying the players. We know that when Koeman took over the squad had just been ripped apart and he was tasked with over seeing a rebuild. They did this very well.

We know that Moshiri wanted a Director of Football for Everton, for long term stability. We know that Stones, Lukaku and maybe even Barkley wanted away for so called bigger clubs. So there was a chance the side was going to be ripped apart. So you need a manager prepared to work under a Director of Football, who has previously done a good job in this league. Koeman ticks all those boxes and more in that he's a big name in the game, in fact Koeman turned the job down until the money got ridiculous. Then you need a Director of Football who can spot good players, up steps the man of the moment Steve Walsh. Who reportedly brought Mahrez and Kante from the streets of France to become Premiership Champions. All the boxes are ticked.

At Southampton they had pace and they had a big target man. He's gone on record loads of times saying he wanted a centre forward and a centre back. In fact even last season he was saying we needed another striker. It hasn't happened. He states frequently about pressing and moving quickly, if you watch him on the line he's always moaning about this. But the players we're bringing in don't fit the system he talks about.

He goes on record multiple times stating he wants a centre forward and a central defender. For me, him going away for the transfer window deadline is a public message that he's not the one bringing these players in. Sure he has some sort of say in it, but he's not buying the players and possibly not even identifying them all.

That's why I don't think sacking Koeman is the answer.

We don't pay him £6m a year to come up with a system that would work with different players in it. His job is to come up with a system that suits the players he actually has at his disposal, something he currently appears totally incapable of doing.

In all honesty I don't really care what he'd like to do. I'll judge him on what he does in the real world, and at the moment that is absolutely not a good thing.

Can't wait for Arsenal to suddenly totally poop the bed, get bafflingly tonked by us 3-0 as a total one-off, and consign us to another 3 months of Koeman.

Klaassen - 20
Sandro - 16
Rooney and Siggurdson are used to getting double figures as well. There is goals in this team, all 4 of those can create as well.

So there's definitely something to work on

You're saying we signed 3 of his former players (Stekelenburg, Schneiderlin, Cuco) and a Dutch player unsuited to the league without his input?

I have got a horrible feeling that I can't shake that he's going to be here at least until the end of the season and the higher ups will write it off as a 'transitional' season.

You know what, I would happily settle for that right now.

Because that implies we immediately start gathering points on a consistent enough basis to climb clear of the relegation zone.

And right now under Koeman I do not see that happening :(

He will deffo be gone in May though.

It is inconceivable he will be offered a new contract and no way even Moshiri will give the transfer budget to a man running the last year of his contract down.

You would hope
