Ronald Koeman discussion

His saints side got slaughtered last season by the dark side and bounced backed, have to hope similar appears, really dreading the Derby now though after tonight.

I think that the majority realise the game is up for them in an Everton shirt, providing Koeman is given the necessary backing to get replacements in. The concern is we can't / don't replace them quickly enough. January is probably going to be difficult/underwhelming again so, as if last summer wasn't the most important, next summer is.

The majority of that squad are ultimately moving to something lower than Everton, Lukaku the only exception.

If we could get even one decent player in in January and somehow stumble though finishing in the top half before a real turnover next summer - we need to be looking at bringing 6-8 players in for the start of 2017/18.

It's top 8 squad at worst mate.

I agree that next summer is massive. A big turn over required at the earliest possible opportunity. I worry that we won't live up to expectations though (in terms of required spending). Last summers non-exploits doesn't inspire me with confidence.

Doesn't look like the man we thought he'd be

I've tried to tell people. I've been critical of RK and Bolasie and been accused of being RS in the process. Ive defended mr Klopp in the process to back up my point. But people on here don't really want to hear nor comprehend the truth, bringing out silly stats that bare no relevance. You might get away with it if you don't bring Klopps name up though. As people on here don't like anything, Everton, being compared UNfavourably with our despised neighbours. I really hope Ronald can prove me wrong.

The only real issue I have with Koeman so far is why did he play a weak side in the league cup . We've done OK in the league overall , about what I expected .

Look mate, id really stop throwing that clown term around for a manager who gave us our best ever season when your defending a manager who's just overseen a disaster.

To the substantial point: I am referring to a SPECIFIC aspect here: the so called "sorted defence". It's not sorted and we can all see that to be the case.

Dave, Martinez oversaw two years of shambles and you still wouldn't say boo to a goose.

The defence isn't completely sorted but going into this match we had one of the best defences this season for goals this season. Considering the shambles he inherited, I think that is at least progress. But with you it is just extremes, there can be no grey area.

Effectively your argument is, Martinez earned the two years because his first 72 point season. You probably would have gone on backing him after last season as you never said when you would have drawn the line.

However, Martinez inherited a team that finished sixth, fourteen points ahead of eighth placed West Brom. Not exactly the worst of foundations.

Koeman inherited a team in freefall, shot of confidence that had finished 11th in the past two seasons.

From "second best defence in the PL" to 8th "best defence in the PL" in one week....which just underlines what a misleading stat that was in the first place.

It must be like Christmas come early. These two weeks are gonna be epic.

Koeman in tonights Echo

"We need to learn and we need to change a lot of things when we don't have the ball, how is our transition? How are we coming back? Is it sprinting or is it at 80%? There was a big difference between Chelsea and Everton today."
