Koeman in tonights Echo

"We need to learn and we need to change a lot of things when we don't have the ball, how is our transition? How are we coming back it? Is it sprinting or is it at 80%? There was a big difference between Chelsea and Everton today."
Nice to hear honesty from an Everton manager.

Dave, Martinez oversaw two years of shambles and you still wouldn't say boo to a goose.

The defence isn't completely sorted but

No kidding!

going into this match we had one of the best defences this season for goals this season. Considering the shambles he inherited, I think that is at least progress. But with you it is just extremes, there can be no grey area.
Effectively your argument is, Martinez earned the two years because his first 72 point season. You probably would have gone on backing him after last season as you never said when you would have drawn the line.

However, Martinez inherited a team that finished sixth, fourteen points ahead of eighth placed West Brom. Not exactly the worst of foundations.

Koeman inherited a team in freefall, shot of confidence that had finished 11th in the past two seasons.
From "second best defence in the PL" to 8th "best defence in the PL" in one week. That's what conceding 5 in one game did to that nonsensical claim made by some people parroting the media when some of us could see the defence has nowhere near been addressed.

We can only judge him on the reaction. If he learns from it and we press on then fine. If it happens again then its a big problem.

He needs to realise that the players he's inherited don't have that passion to win it back. If they don't show any improvements come may they should be canned for those who can

He has got that completely arse about face. Our transition problems are going from a mass of bodies in defence to getting on the ball and playing attacking moves when we get the ball off the opposition. That quote from Koeman is lamentable and very alarming.

Still think he's the right person to lead us forward, but needs to be sharp and drop big names that are under performing. That and demand transfers in January, go public.. do anything.

Gonna be a long two weeks but will be very surprised (and concerned) if we don't bounce back with an energetic display against Swansea.

Congratulations Dave, you have been vindicated.

Pretty much on a par with an Everton win that.
