Agreed. We've seen it many times. Moyes with us, Ranieri last season an obvious example. If Koeman got us doing that, we'd push the top sides. But only push them in my opinion. I don't think we'd break the top 4 with out some of those teams underperforming too. Now, good players and very good players all working hard together is what makes a difference. Chelsea were a good example of that tonight.

Always said Koeman will get us back into a top 7 side with the squad. Very evident that could happen as he's in the Moyes mould - reactive, pessimistic, defend first, football second.

To make any in roads, he needs to spend big, attract the talent, play the football.

Sadly, the 3 mentioned won't happen for a while.

The players he brought in have looked much hungrier than the dribble he has inherited. Gueye not there today and look how little energy is about. Williams has looked hungry, Stek has played out his skin up till now. Which current players look like they are fighting for their jobs or playing with a point to prove? Going beyond just going through the motions? Lukaku is boss so will always look good when he wants but nobody from the previous regimes are standing out other than him. Was expecting big things from the likes of Miralles, Del, Coleman, Barkley but it's not happening. Clear out needed they are fluffing their chance.

Under Martinez it was built to keep the ball first.

The way Koeman wants it, I think key players (Barkley, Lukaku being the main ones) wont be here.

Koeman can not motivate his players which is a massive problem

Outclassed means he acknowledges we don't have enough quality to challenge the top teams. He couldn't say we were outfought as that would reflect on him too. I'd say its a bit of both. We have some quality but not enough to get amongst it at the top. If we don't fight for it we struggle at times (and get mauled against good teams like we did tonight).
