Ronald Koeman discussion

Bottom line in this is that it doesn't matter what formation you play if players are not up to standard you will get beaten. Add this to an in form Chelsea side and Koeman 2 0 comment is a reality of the work ahead.

If you mean 7th or 8th, I'd agree to an extent if we play to a consistently high percentage level of capabilities. Its not a top 6 squad though in my opinion.

Well I'd agree the teams above us at present are all superior on paper and more importantly on the pitch, United below us are far superior on paper not in the pitch, and the rest are inferior imo in both, so 7-8th place on ability is the squad, down to the manager to prove his worth to surpass that

Major lessons learnt today. To steady the general sense of capitulation...
We were tragic today, BUT
  • Koeman's Southampton had a fair few of these shockers but still managed other impressive results and a 6th place finish.
  • We still sit in 6th position
  • If Koeman didn't share our general sense that most of our squad are not good enough for Everton, he certainly should now.
  • Chelsea are a formidable opponent, and on a high after a great run of form. Worth pointing out United have been worse than we have this season.
  • I still feel Koeman is doing a better job than the other candidates we had for the job. I realise that is a bold statement without much support other than the other candidates are all struggling with their teams with better squads than ours.
  • Our home form has been vastly improved, and I think it will continue.
  • It's no surprise that the new signings of Williams, Gueye and Bolasie have suited the system better. The more players we buy to fit the system, the better it will work.
  • Simply put, we have a squad capable of 7th and no higher. It's time for Koeman to be brave and make bold decisions, bringing in players like Davies and Lennon
  • For all we know, this could be a one off result. I doubt it though.
  • Hopefully we bring in a few more signings in January. A few more bodies and we'll see Koeman's own squad, not one drilled in mediocrity.
  • Jags isn't a good captain. I've seen more leadership from Williams in 3 months than Jags has in 3 years.

Your penultimate sentence is what the fans want, most defintely. Hope you're wrong with your last sentence, but in reality you're probably right.

I honestly think it'll be back to the drawing board for targets and lower the bar.

We're looking at a Moyes era revisited. No Martinez football revolution who could sweet talk talented youth or out of favour names.

It's gonna be grafters and disciplined players until we...win a trophy, get Europe, or steal a march on a top 4 team having an off season.

It's a familiar contrast to Martinez.

Mate, have you had any further thoughts on Stekelenburg?

On his day can look world class and can have mares as well save, today we saw both, some poor choices for 3 goals, and later on made 2-3 great saves to stop it being a cricket score, still rather him over Hart though, long term answer obviously not, but the entire team phoned it in to itty, and will give you one thing and it's jags looks done, counter point though is how much we miss Baines

...Stek, Jags, Baines = not good enough for this club. Throw Mirallas in there too.

Not signing a better keeper isn't the main issue by any means but it's baffling all the same that we didn't . Rather Stek than Hart?! Lolz

This absolutely cannot be excused. We need to see serious action in January, there's 6/7 players that need to leave the club here

Not even January for serious action on the pitch, Mikeh.

This lack of a good squad thing is old now.

Too many are excusing what have in the main been underwhelming performances since the getgo, despite the decent early results, on the grounds that he inherited a "bad squad".

We need to see some signs of, at the very least, not getting any worse with the squad we have now.

That is not what we are seeing.

We are seeing what many believe to be a bad squad actually getting worse.

This is unacceptable, even if the new manager has only been here a short time.

Has he actually no idea how to get the best out of Rom, Ross, Del and Kev?

It doesn't look like it to me.

Is Bolassie undropable because of the ridiculous amount of money we paid for him?

That is the way it is looking.

Is Stek going to dine out on his performance at City for the foreseeable future?

He was dreadful today, as he was at Burnley.

His Soton side finished 6th in a Season where leics won the league, Utd were cack, Chelsea finished mid table, Liverpool 8th. Last season was a total anomaly.

We sit in 6th after 11 games!!!!!!!!!most of which you would probably expect us to win. A few hard fixtures coming now. To say this after only 11 games is nothing short of ridiculous.

Chelsea were very good, it was the manner of our 'performance' that is the hardest to deal with. Just because Utd have been poor doesn't detract from that

He's doing better job than the other candidates!!!! That like comparing apples with oranges. Who are these candidates? Apart from De Boer. Please tell.

Our home form has vastly improved? Compared to what? We've played Spurs, stoke, boro, palace and West Ham. 11 points 8 goals 3 against. With the exception of Spurs, we should be winning the others. how can you come to the assumption that our home form has vastly improved after only 5 games. Let's review it after the next 5. Swansea, Utd,arsenal, Liverpool and Soton. You still think it will continue?

System? What system? Whatever the system you're talking about, you think Williams, Bolasie and Guaye suit it 'better'!!!!!!

You're Comical Ali and I claim my £10

Baines is mate and really cba arguing about it with you, won 4 drew 1 with him playing at the start of the season, since he's been out won 1 drew 2 lost 3

just because he said how it was under Martinez mate, you don't have to blame him for shatteruing your brown shoe'd dreams

No mention of Cleverley, of Mori, or any other Martinez signing not being good enough though, interesting and ofc by no means an agenda is it mate?
