Ronald Koeman discussion

My opinion is simple
We try our best to keep our better players, we don't as a club go out and tell other clubs we are not good enough to keep anything that looks half decent. We only let players go if it benefits us a club or it gets to the point were we have our hand forced in selling.
I am a realist and I don't believe Lukaku will be here next year.....but come on let's not roll over and let the so called big boys tickle our belly
We are better than that

Haha, but i love a good belly tickle. Good points mate but as I said, I think RK knows he's going and is maybe trying to raise his stock. Our horrible neighbours are a good example. They always seem to be a more attractive proposition than us for potential signings and even they struggled to keep hold of the likes of Suarez and maybe even Coutinho if Barca come knocking. The thing with Lukaku is that only bigger clubs will come calling for him. If we were fighting off Newcastle or Stoke then I would agree. I don't think it's a case of rolling over, it's the simple fact that money talks and we are ultimately a business.

I look forward to reading our red friend's reaction when Barcelona come knocking for someone who would actually get a sniff in their team, such as Coutinho.
They'll be called all the Judas's under the sun.

For Everton it's different. It's just real politik when it happens to Everton; with Liverpool the laws of the universe have been challenged.

Well, that's the most staggeringly negative article on the Everton support I've ever seen from The Guardian

They'd never be ballsy enough to tackle Kopites in such a fashion of course

I think we need to develop a bit of a siege mentality now in all honesty, because the media are being outright overt in stacking the deck against us and trying to stir the pot

The entire point of this article is to cause dissension amongst the fan base

Why don't we use it as a call to arms instead?

It is a sad day when what used to be the most august of our daily newspapers is reduced to scouring Internet fan sites to think up an article about not very much.

So.....Everton fans do not like to hear their manager big up the RS.

Quel surprise.

We don't like to hear him advise our best player not to spend his career at our beloved club?

What fan of any club would be happy with their manager saying that?

Is it too much to hope for that Koeman will read that "article" and learn to keep his fat trap shut about such matters.

The clubs own manager is mate, so difficult to point the finger at the media.

Just have to take it on the chin in and follow the clubs lead in talking up a straight talking manager.

Just read the article and I have to say it's a truthful and accurate description of the situation at present. Let's not overreact every time someone suggests we're not the most successful club in the history of football because sadly, we aren't.

That isn't being fought against. The issue with Koeman's words was that he undermined any belief that we can build a successful team from this point by retaining our best players.

It was a numb nuts comment the likes of which we've never heard before apart from when Moyes reached OT and wasn't Everton manager anymore.

The more i think about it the more and more i find that Koemans comments about Lukaku just does not add up.Koeman say's that Lukaku will not have fulfilled his potential if he spends his whole career at Everton.Yeah i know obviously that we are well off the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid etc.But is it not Koemans job as manager with full backing from Moshiri to bring this club back up to it's rightful place at the elite of british and european football? If Everton regain it's rightful place as a top level football club then how would Lukaku have failed to fulfill his potential by spending his whole career here? What he said is a load of bs.It actually raises a lot of questions because those comments are the words of a manager who is convinced that he was sweet talked into taking the wrong job. They are the words of a manager who has basically said that Everton are doomed to remain a second rate club.Im a big fan of Ronald Koeman in general and he has my full backing as manager but it's only right and proper that he get's called out for those comments about Lukaku.Because those are not the words of a manger who has confidence in his vision for this football club.
