I appreciate you're not criticising them personally here but if I could comment generally - I think the club ambassadors need to be given a little slack.
Ian Snodin won the league, Graeme Stuart won the cup and kept us in the top flight, and Graeme Sharp scored more goals for us than anyone bar Dixie.
The "careful what you wish for" comments were made when Martinez was still the manager, on camera, by a club production, for worldwide broadcast - were they likely to slate the manager? Be realistic. And also since then the ambassadors have come out in support of Koeman, enthusiastically too if you care to look the vids up on youtube.

As club ambassadors they have to tow a party line. They probably didn't come up with that quote themselves.

This is it really. I know Sharp at times can be very uncritical. However Snods columns in the Echo were always a bit more balanced. While don't want to hear it, having ex players involved who root for the manager isn't automatically a bad thing.
This looks good though. I remember Royle saying what was unique about Everton was you would have 4 former managers in the stands paying to watch. (Himself, Kendall, Harvey & Gordon Lee I think). That is unusual for most clubs.
With other managers it may keep them. With Koeman unfortunately I am not sure it will. I think Koeman may get us however the Dutch seem to have a very different view to loyalty and ambition than the English. This is particularly true of Koeman who is almost the vanguard of this.
Lets put it this way, in Holland increasingly now, if you are still playing in Holland post 23 you are a failure. You are expected to move on to bigger and better things, but one day come back and bring that experience back.
This is why I couldn't understand Southampton getting in a big tizz over it. They robbed him from Feyenoord. He was idolised at Feyenoord and seemed to develop a strong bond, but he still moved on. Lets put it this way, this guy has played, managed and won trophies at PSV, Ajax & Feyenoord. Can you imagine someone playing, managing and winning trophies at Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United?
I don't think Koeman sees it nastily. I certainly don't think he wants to upset anyone or stoke fires or cause a war of words. He just wants to manager the best club he can. The Everton move made sense, next summer he may move to Arsenal. Some say it makes him a snake, I just think he is ambitious.
It gets back to the point though it is good we have a network of Evertonians in the coaching set up and around the club. It is an important support network. If Koeman's in any doubt what Everton means (I don't think he is) he won't be after that.
