Ronald Koeman discussion

I appreciate you're not criticising them personally here but if I could comment generally - I think the club ambassadors need to be given a little slack.

Ian Snodin won the league, Graeme Stuart won the cup and kept us in the top flight, and Graeme Sharp scored more goals for us than anyone bar Dixie.

The "careful what you wish for" comments were made when Martinez was still the manager, on camera, by a club production, for worldwide broadcast - were they likely to slate the manager? Be realistic. And also since then the ambassadors have come out in support of Koeman, enthusiastically too if you care to look the vids up on youtube.
The fact that they were successful with us makes it all more disappointing how theyve backed mediocrity ever since they've been in there roles, fair enough they're just making a living but it's embarrassing to watch them chat such bubbles at the best of times

Not really at the end of it all they are employed by the club, you might call your boss at work a massive *** behind his back but you wouldn't do that where he will hear you

This is it really. I know Sharp at times can be very uncritical. However Snods columns in the Echo were always a bit more balanced. While don't want to hear it, having ex players involved who root for the manager isn't automatically a bad thing.

This looks good though. I remember Royle saying what was unique about Everton was you would have 4 former managers in the stands paying to watch. (Himself, Kendall, Harvey & Gordon Lee I think). That is unusual for most clubs.

With other managers it may keep them. With Koeman unfortunately I am not sure it will. I think Koeman may get us however the Dutch seem to have a very different view to loyalty and ambition than the English. This is particularly true of Koeman who is almost the vanguard of this.

Lets put it this way, in Holland increasingly now, if you are still playing in Holland post 23 you are a failure. You are expected to move on to bigger and better things, but one day come back and bring that experience back.

This is why I couldn't understand Southampton getting in a big tizz over it. They robbed him from Feyenoord. He was idolised at Feyenoord and seemed to develop a strong bond, but he still moved on. Lets put it this way, this guy has played, managed and won trophies at PSV, Ajax & Feyenoord. Can you imagine someone playing, managing and winning trophies at Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United?

I don't think Koeman sees it nastily. I certainly don't think he wants to upset anyone or stoke fires or cause a war of words. He just wants to manager the best club he can. The Everton move made sense, next summer he may move to Arsenal. Some say it makes him a snake, I just think he is ambitious.

It gets back to the point though it is good we have a network of Evertonians in the coaching set up and around the club. It is an important support network. If Koeman's in any doubt what Everton means (I don't think he is) he won't be after that.
Agree completely, and the bold bit I've thought myself.

It's embarrassing that such figures from our history are content with towing the line though, the crap they can come out with is bordering on propaganda

But they are unlikely to say "this is total crap" while being paid by the club. The clue surely is in the job title of "Club Ambassador".

Sure that the "ambassadors" can give him plenty of good insight and advice in private. This period of time before pre-season starts is an opportunity for him to listen and learn and get good PR. Looks like he is taking that opportunity.

A few freebies on the club for nights out is money well spent for this sort of thing or perhaps RK is justifiably feeling generous in the wake of tripling his salary. It's all good.

I'm not especially worried about the future and how long he will stay. That works both ways but I wouldn't underestimate Everton's ability to make an impact on him that he has never experienced before. We are special like that.

I honestly see your point, BUT, I also see the need for there to be some sort of organised club representation as this provides - that will entail towing a "party line" and that, in my view, is fair enough.

Like i say of course they can't mouth of like big nev does, they have to toe a certain line to an extent. But some of the tripe they can come out with that's so polar opposite from what's happening is a bit disappointing

And exactly my point - I'm sure if they could they would have done, but he's gone and it's all over now.

Everton TV is by in large utter nonsense. It is completely distorted propaganda by the club. However you would have to expect that. They are not going to look to look to put the club down on their own channel.

All of the above 3 work for the club and will be expected to toe the editorial line somewhat. I also think, with the nicest will in the world none of them are perhaps the brightest to look at things critically.

Unfortunately in agreeing to work for the club, they are accepting having to give a one sided view and ultimately the view of Bill Kenwright. There are good and bad bits to that.

I hope under new ownership the vision we give will be a more positive/ambitious one and that can be stressed by the employees in public.

No mate.

Ronald Koeman chilling with three of the biggest yes men around telling us fans to 'be careful what we wish for' with regards to sacking Martinez.

Not sure I understand this post at all.

Why would saying 'be careful what you wish for' be controversial?

Surely - they were warning that things could go from bad to worse?

Surely its all about getting someone in who will ensure that Everton win trophies.

Not sure what all the fuss is about on here at the moment.
