Ronald Koeman discussion

Awww shucks.

Do you get easily embarrassed?

I don't, but i'd say there were more moments last season which hardened me in that way.

Ive left Goodison this season so far being dissapointed mainly, the Norwich game apart, which is different than leaving downright angry after defeat after defeat watching Distin and Jags play pass the ball for 80minutes.

Give me this football over the utter dross ive witnessed for the last 2 years.

Koeman wants to win every game, hes a winner, he doesnt want to win for Everton, he wants to win for his own self interests, he shares our goals, to be successful, not cos he wants to end our trophy drought, but cos he wants to use us a stepping stone.

Whats the issue, he wants the same thing as us, he just has a different motive.
Agree with this. The manager, the coaching staff, the player, everyone who works at the club is hired on the basis of their ability to do their specific job. That isn't to say that the culture of the club will rub off on them. "When touched by Everton.."..etc. However, there is an issue of passion here. Passion for the job. A passion for success. It is an issue in all walks of life. There are those that turn up for the pay check and nothing else, and there are those who push that little harder and over achieve. The question really should be: Who are the over-achievers at Everton and who just do the minimum? The concern right now is that there are too many of the latter, and the feeling is the manager might be in the latter group as well. Although, personally, I think it still too early to decide that judgement yet.

first rule of management, at the first sign of trouble, blame the previous management

Mmmm, there is a clue why the last management became the previous. Anyway, the lack of fitness was mentioned by Koeman in preseason and some of the first team players have certainly alluded to the same issue. And you don't get those levels back with few extra work outs, it's takes months of hard work, particularly at this level of footballing athleticism.

We looked a much fitter and organised team yesterday and that's improvement already on last season.

Dave most of us are not happy right now but where do expect us to be? in the mix for the champs league spot with Spurs Arsenal Liverpool...(Not a chance with this crop of players) Koeman has to improve, of course he has to and the quality of players also, but having players at his disposal like Mori/Cleverly etc..his not his fault that's what Martinez left behind when he got booted out the club with 10m quid in his arse pocket.
We should be doing a lot better with the players at his disposal.

They are far and away the best outside United's, City's, Arsenal's, Spurs', Chelsea's and Liverpool's. Position wise they aren't far off it (but with the trend going alarmingly in the wrong direction points wise - and now position wise), but in terms of quality of performance they are miles off those clubs. We look like primitive savages in comparison.

We can put on the pitch 11 quality players, and how Koeman manages to have them playing agricultural football I have no idea. He's hiding behind the general sentiment that the quality isn't there when it is...certainly to play better football and winning football.

I thought he was the enforcer to come in and just sort this back four out. He's proven to be a calamity in the first few months, and all he has by way of a better tomorrow is not coaching to improve the bulk of players he has - and will have in the next few seasons to come - but the threat that new players will replace them.

Barry is creative. He had Barkley as an attacking midfielder. Martinez was here three seasons and that just about evens up the 'creatives' of the Moyes era.
Barry is not creative, and Barkley would have been replaced near like for like by Sissoko, which doesn't say much about what he offers further forward.

Standards have fallen to almost Walter-levels in recent times. This team has been absolutely panned by three/four/five goals on numerous occasions in the last twelve months, and no one at the club is even remotely arsed.

I had high hopes for a clean slate under Moshiri, but with Kenwright and Elstone still in the boardroom, and Martinez's clowns on the pitch, I'm fully expecting more of the same crap.

our squad on paper is probably better than liverpool's. it's certainly no worse, so yes, we definitely should be up there at least competing, imo. We definitely put out better benches than them, so it goes further than starting XI's.

You want clowns mate? Stekelenburg and Bolasie.

The feller's been here one transfer window and lumbered us with those two spanners.

it was about now last season when things really started to go wrong ...crazy last minute goals not winning games we should have etc) be interesting to see where we go from now on..

I don't think he really knew what he was getting into when he came here, and I doubt he'll end up seeing out his contract.

We've swapped throwing bodies forward for keeping too many back, while continuing the policy of avoiding natural footballers like the plague.

Maybe things will look brighter once we get an idea of what the new director of football has been working on since August.

So you admit that Martinez failed with his 11th and 13th place league placing then?

Correct!! So we are right behind all the clubs you have mentioned so you agree we are in the position we should be? Therefore Koeman is not exactly failing if he has got the 7 best squad in the league and we are joint 7th!!
