Ronald Koeman discussion

Would that have been achieved without the base Pochettino put in place?

BTW, I welcomed Koeman because f his record at S'ton. But FFS I had no idea the realty of the day to day existence of that club looked like this.
Dave most of us are not happy right now but where do expect us to be? in the mix for the champs league spot with Spurs Arsenal Liverpool...(Not a chance with this crop of players) Koeman has to improve, of course he has to and the quality of players also, but having players at his disposal like Mori/Cleverly etc..his not his fault that's what Martinez left behind when he got booted out the club with 10m quid in his arse pocket.

But he already has.

Valencia, Benfica, Ajax, Feyonoord are all vastly bigger clubs than us.

How did that work out? He won the dutch league, finished 3rd in a 3 horse race in Portugal and his stint at Valencia was not the greatest, albeit a cup win.

He's at his level. Vastly is a bit overboard too. Let's see what he brings to the table when he has had another window or 2.

Although I hated yesterday's hoofball, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Southampton had a horrendous spell last season, but there was no stoping them once they snapped out of it.

Doesnt take away from the fact that the teams I mentioned are vastly bigger clubs than us, maybe I was pushing it a little with Valencia.

It matters not how he did at those clubs, the comment was he wont manage a club as big as us, when he fact hes already managed at least 3 clubs bigger than us.

Do you think the City fans care that Pep couldnt name their 1960s side?

I dont understand this POV, Ronny will never pretend to be a boss blue, the last clown used to make me vomit pretending he was a proper blue.

We are not Man.City though. They are different animal these days compared to the pre-cash City. Succesfull Everton managers and players have always been of a certain character. Dixie, Ball, Sharp, Catterick, Reidy, Kendall, Ferguson, Royle, Big Nev etc etc. Proper Everton people. I just feel we need those type of people in charge to be successful again. It's like most of the current players and manager don't really care at the end of the day.
Look at Man.U. Their success under Ferguson was built on staff that bled Man.U. Reputation and cash hasn't enabled them to recapture that magic. We are of similar ilk. We need people who bleed blue to drive us forward. Having that at your club is priceless.

I'll give you it on context but you're being a bit naughty with the statement. Ajax and Feynoord are faded giants like ourselves not the forces they were in the 70's/80's/90's and the Dutch League is really poor at the moment.

Roy Keane was VITAL to Uniteds success.

He couldnt have cared less about United if he tried, what he was tho was a winner, somebody who never accepted 2nd best, we need players with that attitude, it doesnt matter if they are blues, pinks, greens or even greys.

I will also concede Feyonoord.

But Ajax and Benfica are massive, massive clubs, whos names ring out.

Keane gave everything in a United shirt. I don't believe for a second that 'he couldn't have cared less about United'. He fell out with the club at the end of his career and has been petulant about the situation ever since. My point though Goat is that we need a manager and players who will pull the shirt on with pride and give 100% and go out there and 'die for Everton'.

I don't think Koeman is the man to create a team like that.

Koeman wants to win every game, hes a winner, he doesnt want to win for Everton, he wants to win for his own self interests, he shares our goals, to be successful, not cos he wants to end our trophy drought, but cos he wants to use us a stepping stone.

Whats the issue, he wants the same thing as us, he just has a different motive.

Yes mate, I found it EMBARRASSING!

Hoofball straight up to Lukaku and then bam, they lost possession. It was this right up until the last ten minutes when they actually started to play a bit of football.

As for your second point, I can't even be bothered responding to that.

Awww shucks.

Do you get easily embarrassed?

I don't, but i'd say there were more moments last season which hardened me in that way.

One could contend that such motivations could lead to mortgaging the future for fast success.
