Ronald Koeman discussion

In all that video I spotted one goal that came from a well constructed move, the rest were a matter of getting the ball forward/across to big Pelle's head.

So that's the grand plan is it? That's the promised land?

This feller hasn't got a clue how to play football mate, and you know it too.

Football is a simple game David, made harder by people aspiring to be Brazil 1970 or even the Dutch Total Football style of play.

Retain the basics :

The other team cant score when you have the ball
The other team cant score when the ball is 50 foot in the air
The other team cant score from their half (2 or 3 freak goals aside)
To score a goal, the ball must be played forwards
To score a goal, you must find a team mate with a pass
To score a goal, you must strike the football into the net like area

I suggest you read these titbits and learn them David.

I dont understand this.

What midfielders are you talking about? Cahill, Fellaini, Heitinga?
Arteta, Pienaar and Osman - players that were able to bring the best out of the more limited types you mentioned.

As someone who was very much in favour of appointing Martinez, I was shocked to find that his ideal midfield consisted of runners and crabs, with absolutely no consideration for inventive passing and movement.

The closest thing he ever had to a footballing midfielder was Cleverley.

Cleverley.

One search of 'Ashley Williams possession football' on Google throw up hundreds of posts calling him a "an old school defender" who likes to "punt the ball as far away from his own goal as possible"......... or not.

Then he mentions the "IQ" of other posters.

Oh the irony. :coffee:
He's lost it mate. chico was able to keep him in line, now he's gone this lad is running riot making so many bad posts it's frightening.

Mind you, it is a call on a CB...and goat has the dubious honour of two of the worst calls on CBs in the history of GOT:

Stones will be the best defender in the world
Van Dijk is useless

There's no coming back from calamities like that. :coffee:

I was embarrassed watching the hoofball yesterday.

Really? I mean really embarrassed?

So if we had nicked a winner, you would still be saying you were embarrassed?

If we had won at least another 3 games and had another 6 points in the bag and were sat in 6th a point behind Spurs, then none of us would even be discussing hoofball, it wreaks of fickle and flavour of the month talk!

Young John would be a God send alongside that utter yard dog we were forced into yesterday.

As I said, I watched Van Dirge for the first time the other week, he reminds me of the player John Stones will be in 3 years, but less talented.

He got 6th and 7th at Soton with negative net spend. His PL records were ok.

Would that have been achieved without the base Pochettino put in place?

BTW, I welcomed Koeman because f his record at S'ton. But FFS I had no idea the realty of the day to day existence of that club looked like this.

Learned at the foot of the Moyesiah.

He was there for one season right? I don't buy into this influence thing because Koeman bought most Soton players when they got 6th and 7th. Results speak for itself.

Barry is creative. He had Barkley as an attacking midfielder. Martinez was here three seasons and that just about evens up the 'creatives' of the Moyes era.
