This isn't 1950 or modern day Glasgow, so religion has absolutely no place here.

Neither EFC nor LFC have a C/E or RC affinity, with both clubs coming out of a Methodist church. The fact St. Luke's is C/E in the corner of the ground is a complete co-incidence, as is the many Irish followers we gained in the 40's/50's.

In fact to assume all the Irish fans are Catholic could be seen as inflammatory in itself. And while here may have been a large number of Catholic fans, my family were in the Orange Lodge and all Evertonians from day 1 of the club almost.

Let's leave religion out of football. In fact, when presented with a quesionnaire that asks religion, write 'Evertonian'.

They actually said "a statement will be released by Everton on Tuesday", which seemed a very odd thing to say as it was already Tuesday.
