Love these from koeman:

“Boss, this is the first time. And also the last time.”

- Koeman has a quiet word Cruyff after being dropped for a Barcelona European Cup tie in 1993

“We were at an away game once, having our pre-match meal. Our coach, Theo Verlangen, would go mad if he saw mayonnaise on our table. But this time he wasn’t paying attention when the waiter put some down in front of us.

“Ronald took a couple of chips, slapped them in the mayonnaise and just as he was about to eat them, Verlangen said: ‘Koeman! If you eat those, that’s a 500 guilder fine!’ Ronald stuffed them in his mouth and said: ‘Make it a thousand.’”

- former Groningen team-mate Rob McDonald recalls a tale from a 19-year-old Koeman

I shouldn’t have done it. But to say I regret it... not really.”

- recalling being pictured pretending to wipe his backside using Olaf Thon’s shirt after exchanging jerseys with the German midfielder following Holland’s Euro 88 semi-final win in Hamburg. Holland and Germany don’t get on. At all

Koeman Announcement Delayed, by GrandOldTeam

Ronald Koeman’s official appointment as Everton manager is set to be delayed until next week, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Although Everton have agreed a deal with Southampton and terms with Koeman, practical issues over finalising contracts are said to have arisen due to the 53-year-old being away on a second pre-planned holiday.

According to local press – both Everton and Koeman are prepared to wait until he returns on Monday.

Koeman’s brother, Erwin, will join Everton as assistant manager and the pair will be joined by Jan Kluitenberg, who takes up the role of assistant first team coach/physical coach. Kluitenberg worked with Koeman at Vitesse Arnhem, Benfica, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord and Southampton.

Koeman’s honours as a player include winning the 1988 European Championship with the Dutch national team, the European Cup – now the Champions League – with PSV Eindhoven in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992 as well as domestic league titles in the Netherlands and Spain.

He played 763 games for club and country, scoring 253 goals, including the winner for Barcelona against Sampdoria in the 1992 European Cup final at Wembley.

His managerial career has taken in spells at Vitesse, Ajax, Benfica, PSV, Valencia, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord, before he joined Southampton in June 2014.

It has to be said that it's an inauspicious start to his career at EFC that he chose to go on a second planned holiday leaving the club and thousands of fans hanging for days on end for finalisation of his multi-million pound contract.
He's clearly not a driven career orientated workaholic like Emmery for example. Doesn't mean he won't succeed but, with this attitude, I can't see him devoting much time to looking at youth or perspective new singings. It's just as well we're getting a DOF and to those who thought we didn't need one I think sunshine Ronnie might change your mind.
