I often thought of Everton as being the more cultured, civilised sibling of Liverpool, but a lot of what I have read on here and on twitter suggests that delusion must be on the Merseyside curriculum.

Oh don't talk bollox. I said this before EVERY FAN thinks their club is bigger than what it is. You take what people say on the internet or twitter and you would immediately all assume that every club has gobsh1tes as fans. That's like basing the human race on youtube comments.

Your fans are just as worse. Many think that Koeman is ready for Barcelona. Many fans think it's a STEP DOWN to move to Everton JUST because you have finished higher than us in past 2 seasons. Which is deluded.

Being a child of the Premier League era, my interest in club history is limited.

Which explains a lot.

Now this is football, whilst most of our fans and many in the media are asking the question of 'why?' (albeit it's more of a 'WHYYYY!?!?!?!?') with regards to whether our Ron would opt for Goodison, it really wouldn't surprise me that much, but I have to think if I were him then I would think what is the point? Having secured a couple of more than respectable finishes with a side that has its best players sold every season,

You just answered your own question. Right at the end.

Stepping sideways (or backwards really, looking at the table),

Now again, this is where your thinking is limited. Everton maybe lower in the table, but that doesn't mean Everton cannot attract better players and pay them more money.

Evertons wage bill is the 7th highest in the Premier league. That's why Martinez was sacked. Because naturally that should be Evertons default position. (EVEN UNDER MOYES, yes the southern press loved Moyes but he finished most season in our default position, all he did was stabilize the club, he didn't over achieve or under achieve). Southamptons Wage bill is the 14th highest in the Premiership.

Southampton with Koeman are well and truly punching above their weight, especially after selling their best friggin players. Meanwhile Everton have been taken over by a billionaire who has supposedly promised to put 200m towards investment AND finally prepare us to move to a new 55,000/60,000 stadium. (They reckon 100m of that on new players).

Everton have fantastic young players, and despite what Talksport and the southern press say, are perfectly capable of keeping hold of Stones/Barkley/Lukaku. But even if they sold them, that would be a HUGE return for re-investing in players, who might be just as good and not as overhyped.

Evertons record signing cost 28m, Southamptons record signing cost 14.5m (Everton payed 15m for Fellaini 8 years ago).

So Koeman has the opportunity to move to a club that
1.) Can pay higher wages
2.) Can spend more money on transfer fees
3.) Have the ability to hold onto players

AND THIS IS WITHOUT THE NEW BILLIONAIRE OWNER

These are the THREE key things that managers look for when deciding on what club to manage, especially if that club is also offering the man himself higher wages.

And you Southampton fans have the cheek to call Everton fans deluded for recognizing this fact? NO, YOU JUST NEED TO BE EDUCATED... Oh, and while your googling please look how many years Everton have spent in the top division, my guess is 114 out of 118 seasons, whereas you lot haven't even managed 40.

The deluded fans are the Saint fans coming on this board, thinking that Everton THINK they are a bigger club just because of what was achieved in the 80s. NO, we have a bigger stadium, pay more wages, spend more money (even when supposedly skint).... BUT NOW actually have someone else willing to invest even more, which would take us even higher.

Yet we have Saints fans coming on here saying IT IS A STEP DOWN to manage Everton just because you have overachieved these past TWO seasons?

NO. We are the ones who have massively underachieved. This is why we sacked our manager, whereas Koeman would have kept his job if Southampton had the season we had.

There is only one reason Koeman has let his contract run down, he knows he's at a small club and is ready to listen to offers, simple as.

Managers and Players don't let contracts run down if they are happy.

That is a good point, but the other side of the coin is blackmail for an extension and more pay.

Staying at Southampton me thinks!

I'm sure he could have signed a bigger contract last summer, so he's losing money all this season, Soton will have tried to get him signed up long term, if he was happy he'd have done so.

Letting the contract run down gives a lot of advantages to a club coming in for him, Moyes let his contract run down because he'd already been given the nod by his mate Fergie that he was in line for the Man U job.

Possibly but still not convinced that Koeman is the right fit for us.
