As the saying goes, the bigger the paycheque the bigger the problems. He's about to experience pressure to deliver he hasn't as a Manager to date.

Pep said in an interview that Koeman as a player was great at getting over nerves, don't forget this guy been in the biggest games around. He used to winning as a player. The mentality will be the same

Not even arsed about this - don't see him coming in and changing a great deal beyond what we'll see on a Saturday afternoon but I guess that's all that matters to most fans. I don't think he's someone who will be inviting previous managers into Finch Farm for advice or putting up old pictures of famous Everton teams to remind the current players what playing for Everton is all about - that's what "getting" Everton means. That we're having to pay so much to lure a manager of Southampton is embarrassing, if Koeman sees Everton as a sideways step, I don't want him here. Hope he doesn't spend this 100m he's been promised on too many Southampton players, I'd take that Dutch midfielder they have in a heart beat though - Clasie, and Mane and Forster

Hahahahahahahahaha dry your eyes mate Martinez isn't coming back

No reason is there why this won't be hitting the national sports media today? I think the Daily Mirror have committed themselves to it but has anyone else?

Royle is already involved at the club so he'll be there. Which other managers should be invited? Walter Smith? Mike Walker? Maybe Moyes could be persuaded to drop in ........

Everything about this is disappointing. If we're going to have to pay massive money to convince a manager to come to Everton, it should be a proven, superb one - not a merely 'good' one like Koeman is.

Koeman should be jumping at the chance to manage Everton - if he's not, it indicates he doesn't have much sense and his heart won't be in it, which is a bad thing all round.

I hope it's all paper talk - he's the wrong option. Let Southampton bang on about him being the messiah for their little club and let's aim higher than him.

I don't understand where some Evertonians are coming from with this. We came 11th last season, and 11th the season before. What are people expecting?

We're a great club with a proud history but we haven't been one of the big clubs of the Premier League era which is an important factor these days, so someone like Koeman coming in is a positive (if it does happen).

All this belittling of Southampton as a small club is pathetic too. Leicester are a fairly small club in my eyes, but they're champions, whilst big clubs Aston Villa, Newcastle and Leeds are rotting in the Championship.

Who do people seriously think the Everton of this era could get? Mourinho and Simeone lol.

I'll be delighted if someone like Koeman was to come in. The future is bright for us and finally it looks like we are going to make some serious progress with Moshiri behind us. Record season ticket sales, a lot of good players in the squad, new stadium on the horizon and more money than we've ever known to spend.

Let's not get too carried away about our status in the game at this moment in time though.

I couldn't disagree more with this, I think you're wrong all round here mate.

He'll make you eat those words imo.

This - except if he does join, and with a reported budget of £100m, if he wants somewhere 'better' then he's gonna have to do a lot better than he did with soton (Which I think is no more than ok, meself, considering how the season went for everyone else)
