Koeman did a great job at Southampton bringing in players to replace their crown jewels. I hope I'm not reading too much into this.

Could he not just be doing all this for a better contract from Southampton?
No they can't compete with us. It's all about the money, if the kopites were skint they couldn't offer Klipperty a competitive salary and money in the transfer market he wouldn't have gone there. Same applies to all the top managers in the prem and around the world. It's a business there is no loyalty. I don't care as long as he does well for us and I think he's got a good chance.

Hope he joins us he is a great manager and if he sees something he does not like from the players he is not scared to voice it unlike the last fella.
Koeman was a world class player footballers should be busting a gut to play for him

Like what ? Can you also put his positives down as well?

His positives are that he has done alright with Southampton, and that he won some things in Holland.

His negatives are that other people won more than he did in Holland, that his triumphs there are ten years ago, and that his time at Valencia - where he inherited a great side (David Villa, David Silva, Mata, Banega, Marchena etc) that were in the Champions League places when he took over and would have got them relegated if they hadn't sacked him. He was less than a success when he went to Benfica as well.

If its a choice between Emery and him, and he is the preferred option, I think its absolute madness. In fact I can't really understand why de Boer is that far behind him either, at least he has won things lately and his failures aren't so obvious.

I'm not that arsed.

It's not a marquee signing by any stretch if he comes, but it's decent enough.

One thing though, what he has done to Southampton here! remember this if he is successful, as he is obviously a complete mercenary and now has a pretty long list of clubs under his belt already, we are his 9th club!

And the biggest club he has ever managed. If he's only going upwards then a point will come when his window of opportunity becomes too small. Plus, if he wan't to continue to move, he needs to do well. So we'll benefit, and if we benefit we become more attractive to other managers. Win Win.

I guess i dont understand this signing. It just seems a bit underwhelming given the other candidates available.
It feels like we are settling. Everton the Settlers.

There is no way in hell soton are going to come anywhere near or even attempt to match the reported 7m a year.

No, they're not. And there's no going back there for him now.

I get the feeling Soton are a bit relieved to see him jump ship. Saves them money not having to offer him a new bumper contract. They'll get de Boer and that'll make reaching a satisfying conclusion for all parties.

I wasn't overwhelmed with it at the beginning - I wanted Emery - but I am warming to him. At the end of the day, if he was Moshiri's first choice then that's good enough for me. That and he is clearly very highly rated by Southampton fans. Give him some money and let's see what he can do.

Not to be contrarian but Barcelona (assistant) and Ajax could be construed as a bigger club.

...to be fair I like that it isnt Plucky little Everton anymore, we should be thinking we are a big d club

well he wouldn't be the one doing that anyway because he's not the chairman

Sorry ya, you know what I mean though. I'm assuming Koeman would give a list of positions with preferred players and the final decisions would be made by the DoF in conjunction with the board. I'm not fully sure how the continental system works I'm just guessing here.
