Rooney kissing the United badge..

Spot on. That's all it is at the end of the day - banter. What did Rooney do other than wind up those intent on winding him up?

It's ironic that Ronaldo tried to get Everton players sent off today and he's received less stick than Rooney! What was the bigger crime - kissing a piece of acrylic or rolling around feigning injury?

Unbelievable reaction.

Doing an interview with the most hated newspaper on Merseyside, who slagged off and dragged the name of our city through the mud? All to cash in and add to his fortune.

You may call it kissing a piece of acrylic, but it is what that acrylic represents that winds myself and the majority of Everton fans up.

I couldn't find a stream that worked so haven't seen this. But all the reports I've read claimed that Rooney was taken off precisely because he was allowing himself to get wound up, responding with actions such as kissing his badge. Fans try and wind up opposing players - it's an accepted and integral part of the game. Players attempting to wind up opposing fans used to be similarly accepted but is now regarded as a cardable offence. Rooney knows it, but couldn't control himself and was substituted to prevent him getting a second yellow.
To my mind that's quite a result.

Lots of players try try to get opposing players sent off. Ronaldo just seems to do it more often than most. And today he didn't succeed.

That's how much out of whack football has become. It's all this 'customer is always right' stuff creeping into the game and killing it. It's like when supporters report players to coppers because they've been "abused" by a player. FFS, I've never heard so much [Poor language removed] in my life than you hear now out of supporters. So what we pay good money to get in. Just give it and take it if that's what you wanna do with your afternoon.

There's no excuse for wanting a player "dead" for signing for United/Liverpool - even if they have intercourse with the red shirt on the pitch never mind [Poor language removed] kiss it. And there's nothing a player could EVER do that'd get me running to the nearest copper to report them.

<shakes head>

does that include lashing something into the crowd that hits your missus or kid ?

Of course not. We're talking here in the context of wind ups - like today or incidents like Barton (regardless of the **** that he is) and Gary Neville at OT giving stick to Kopites.

I just cant fathom how it gets to some that much they'd report someone over it. And, of course, we have bell ends employed by the club who'll flag those incidents up for the worlds media to lap up. It's small time.

if you choose to live your life as a media darling then you have to act in a manner that is befitting the privelige. him and his talentless bint of a wife choose to live like that so expect the flack & expect to be pulled up for crossing the line.

Agree that I wouldn't wish death on a footballer, merely for being annoying and showing a lack of class. But Rooney has turned into a special kind of prick. He needs to chill out instead of the constant posturing to Everton fans. Most supporters are really decent people and despite a bit of banter, don't wish the chubby lad any harm. So it's about time that Rooney started respecting those people instead of constantly reacting to the vocal minority. He needs to grow up now.

Dave, when Fowler did his line thing and people complained I was against it saying he was only giving what he got and is to be expected ,but Rooney is completely different,it ceases to be banter when he writes lies in his book and totally disrespects the club that helped him develop in to a very rich man.every week we see players score against their ex teams yet respect their old old fans feelings indeed Cahill did it when playing against his old club the classic one was Denis Law [Poor language removed] on by Docherty he then scored the goal to send them down he was nearly in tears, compare this to Rooney. he has no class or gratitude.

Nebbiolo and Coyney - I agree what he did, and what he has previously done, aren't classy moves. I'm not defending him on that level...I'm not saying he should goad Evertonians, I always hope he'll rise above it as he did for the most part today, because, as you say Nebbiolo, most blues have moved on and he should respect that.

What's at the heart of this is a joke though: he moved to man Utd from Everton after saying 'once a blue' as a kid. It's laughable really that people cant just move on. This club's owners wanted that move for financial reasons every bit as Rooney wanted it for fulfilling his own ambitions. We got £27M. Thanks very much - should have been more dosh like, but nevermind. End of story. That's the way it should have been, but it's been a constant barrage of abuse Rooney gets from a section of supporters - probably the same supporters who who still boo Gary Speed FFS!!!!

There's a fair few blues who think that's ok and seeing Rooney subbed today was a 'victory'!!! Thank fcuk most supporters were more happy with the point and a good performance and are now chuckling about Rooney losing his rag rather than spitting bile and blood.

No matter how rich or how many skills he's got,

jeez he's one ugly man. Bald by the time he's 26, porky although he'd train every day, and with a head so ugly, when he looks into the mirror his reflection ducks.

Rooney is so ugly he looks like my feet
Rooney is so ugly , when he was a baby they had to tint the windows on the incubator!
Rooney is so ugly he has to sneak up on a glass of water.
Rooney is so ugly, he goes to beach and the ocean won't even wave at him.
Rooney is so ugly he went into a Haunted House and came out with a job application
Rooney is so ugly his mum had to tie a steak around his neck to get the dogs to play with him.
Rooney is so ugly when he walks into a bank, they turn off the surveillence cameras
Rooney is so ugly they filmed "Gorillas in the Mist" in his shower
Rooney is so ugly they push his face into dough to make gorilla cookies.
Rooney is so ugly he looks out the window and got arrested for mooning.
Rooney is so ugly when he joined an ugly contest, they said "Sorry, no professionals."
Rooney is so ugly documentary crews from National Geographic follow him around.
Rooney is so ugly people go as him for Halloween.
Rooney is so ugly the government moved Halloween to his birthday.
Rooney is so ugly when they took him to the beautician it took 12 hours. . .for a quote!
Rooney is so ugly he made an onion cry.

I think it is a case of like and like, to be honest. Rooney is a moron, and the fans that take it beyond the old banter that you would expect in a football match, are of the same ilk. Maybe they should all get together and start a "moron" club or something. They deserve each other.
