He's Icelandic ffs. He has the hottest of the hot to choose from.

And Bjork. Is she still even a thing?

I really won't be confident with someone who's way past it to produce a second of brilliance, while trotting along leisurely, doing nothing.

Remember the last statement signing we made - Eto'o? What a fantastic influence he was!

But maybe it's just me seeing that Rooney's legs are gone, and defo not people being stuck in the past wanting us to sign him back because he was good about 2 years ago (for the last time) and he's been average at best since. Because someone will say "but what about those flashes of brilliance lad ffs?!" - we had Saha, absolutely the same signing - legs gone, can't run, but let's rely on him or blindly hope he does well, which he did about twice every 17 games.

Both Eto and Saha had more problems with just "legs gone".

Eto was ego driven and unsettled the team. Saha was injuries despite still bagging 10 a season and got us to a cup final.

Rooney is nowhere near that end of ladder or being past it.

I'd say he's past it at a side who can spend £80million and attract talent to replace his level of quality.

We struggle to attract big names and don't have many, if any, of Rooney's quality.

Fair point, but Saha and Eto'o weren't boyhood Evertonians so their motivations to do well for Everton might differ from Rooney's.

But yeah, not super keen on Rooney anymore, the sting he once had looks to be gone. I would welcome him as an addition, but it would never be a statement signing in my eyes.

At the moment all he'd be is an unwelcome addition to the treatment room.

Up until Xmas I was cautiously in favour of it if we could strike the right deal for the club financially. Now I'm not sure if I'd have him at all.

Remember this thread about Eto, it's a classic.
