Why? Conte never wanted him.

He's squad filler at a reasonable price. They will keep him for a few seasons and sell before his price depreciates. Purely a business decision.

In return Ross may get a couple of medals.

In fairness to Conte he already looks leaner and a bit pacier than at some times when he was with us.
