It mentions Everton having an "iron stance", so I would imagine Kenwright has been reading his Beevor again before we inevitably sell him on for £35 million and a promise to beat them at the Etihad twice.

To be fair, we could have sold Baines but we never. Times have changed. Plus as pointed out, Everton specifically quoted £50m because they KNOW that City can't afford that due to UEFA sniffing around them regarding FFP breaches. Teams can only spend a certain amount in relation to their current revenues. It's irrelevant that City have unlimited funds.

We do have a problem, Man u are not afraid to spend the cash anymore, look at the transfer window they have has. They wont flinch at the asking price of 50 million, would Kenwright turn 50 million down? If Barkley come back from injury and get back to his best and improves then we need to ask for 70 million to scare them off.

......hope I'm not being naïve, but I don't think anything will happen on this front until the player feels he would like to move on.

He's signed a long term deal. The way money has been going in football he'll be worth double his value now in a few years, and that's if he doesn't improve. It wouldn't make financial sense to sell him for at least 2/3 years.

Still maintain i'd take £50m all day long for a player who'll never be fit for a whole season.
LOL. What?! Can I have some of what you're smoking mate and a go at your 100% accurate prediction making crystal ball please, I need the lottery numbers for March next year.
