Yeah, the reason is that we've lost half our first choice eleven to fairly long term injury, 5 of our best players, and we've played 4 of the 'top' teams in our first 7 games, 2 of which will likely finish in the top 3 this season.

If a player has a contract with a club and doesn't want to leave then there is nowt the club can do about it.

Unless his behaviour invalidated the contract.

....technically it takes 3 parties to agree a move but in reality the situation becomes untenable if there's a strong push by 2. I suppose the Suarez situation was an exception but he got his transfer in the end. The other exception is players running down contracts under Bosman but I don't think that applies here.
