Based on potential he's one of the best players in the league. We've seen plenty of flashes of brilliance to go along with it as well, but there's been absolutely no consistency to his game.

Everyone could count on one hand the amount of times he's truly influenced a full 90 minutes the way Rooney did.

I'm convinced he'll mature and become an excellent player but right now he's so far away the level people think he's at it's ridiculous.

While I agree to a certain extent I think your being a bit harsh
For me he was playing outstanding up to Xmas last year and starting to show consistency the injury against QPR in the cup was a downer as he was brilliant that day
Obviously we all know what happened with him being rushed back for the derby and was hit and miss for the rest of the season
He also got a knock at Fulham and went off at half time
Martinez said he was feeling pain in his foot even though he was playing and the manager said he didn't want to give him a pain killing injection as he doesn't believe in giving then to young players
And this season he's been out for 10 weeks
Let's hope he gets a run of games up to Xmas and I fully expect him to start showing consistency and great performances into the new year
Look at sterling been a regular for Liverpool for 2 yrs had no major injuries that I know off
Yet he has been pretty average for the last 6 weeks

He's not a left winger but we knew that from previous games he's played on the wing.

Play him through the middle and he'll be fine

Roberto has a problem that he's trying to fit both barkley and Naismith into the same team, which means one of them is playing from the left. Both are best in the No.10 role thru the middle.

Now I presume RM is doing this due to mirallas's injury and pienaar not being 100% yet but going forward I think he needs to pick one or the other. Also if Etoo is playing striker, he drops too deep into the space that a No.10 operates in.

Some tactical and personel selections roberto has got to get right, which he isn't doing at the moment.

I think the adrenalin of coming back after the injury saw him through that day. He's going to need time to get that spark back and find a level of consistency.

I don't think it's anywhere near a certainty that he's gonna go on and become this world class player that everyone here is convinced about.

When a team lacks balance it generally misfires.
Barkley or Naisy need to play through the middle, not trying to accommodate both of them.
