Ross Barkley

There's no way we could replace a 60M pound player, look at Spurs and Liverpool although we could use it to build a stadium which long term may be more important.

However is Ross worth that? I was pissed that Rooney went for 28M because it was clear he was worth at least double that and I felt we where robbed.

If Ross is really worth 60M I would say we have to keep him. A player like that would get us into the CL which would then be worth more than a once off payment.

Such a good player

Love barkley but right now he's not at suarez or bales level where we rely on him to win matches. £60 million would be good business

HOWEVER IF he develops into the player we believe he can then he could be a match winner like those players.

Well, if we do sell him, we know EXACTLY what not to do, having seen Spurs and Liverpool in the last 2 seasons.

If well sell Barkley, we should spend it on one top class replacement, not 7 gash players.

Problem is 1 £60 million player would be on £150k+ a week wages and woud want CL.

We would need to bring in 3-4 top quality £10-20 mil players with the money not 6-7 OVER PRICED ones.

Tadic
Perisic
Song
Alderwierd

4 players for example that would improve us that would all cost around £10-15 mil with Tadic being at a push £20 mil

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Alderwierd Baines

Mccarthy Song

Mirallas Tadic Perisic

Lukaku

With a strong bench of:

Eto'o
Naismith
Barry
Besic
Stones
Oviedo
Mcgeady

Etc.

People are mentioning the likes of Bale and Suarez and I don't see how it is a fair comparison to a 20 year old Ross Barkley? Bale is 25 and Suarez is 27. Neither of those were the players they are now at 20 years old. In fact, I remember Bale coming on at Goodison years ago at Left Back, and putting in one of the worst performances i've ever seen and it was around the time when they couldn't win with him in the team.

Barkley being quoted at 60m at present just shows how ridiculous these transfer fees have become. He has world class potential and has shown flashes of brilliance in his career so far, but is far too inconsistent at the moment. If he goes on to become the player he can be, then 60m+ would be reasonable, but at the moment it's crazy.

I'm also not too worried about Manchester City being in for him. I accept that they are bigger than us at present in terms of challenging for honours, playing in a bigger stadium and can attract great players, but overall, I don't think they're a big enough draw.

Man United, Arsenal and now Chelsea are way bigger clubs than Man City and I would expect him to go to one of them in a few years if we don't push on under Martinez. Man City will always be tramps that won the lottery. For most of Barkley's young life, they were yo-yoing between the top three divisions and even now they have their millions, they're still pitiful in Europe.

Everton are also in a far better position now than they were when Rooney broke through, and the media and fans of other clubs fail to see that.

Everybody would take Barkley, Stones, Coleman, Baines and McCarthy.. How about we keep them all and win something...

Spot on mate. How many clubs in England have a spine of young players as good as Stones, McCarthy, Besic, Barkley and Lukaku? Add to those Coleman, Mirallas and Oviedo. We need to build our team around these young lads and keep adding quality to them each season. It will pay off.

I agree mate give me Barkley staying for the rest of his career any day. If it was in 3-4 years time and he was world class I would want £80 mil+

The problem with that is attracting them.
Nah.

I mean we're not gonna go out and try and buy Isco, but there's top notch players we could attract, look at Eriksen, everyone knew who he was and it was easy for Spurs to attract him because of where he was.

Correct. You don't get anywhere selling your best players. You just end up wasting your cash on more average players like Spurs and the rednecks have. Rooney is probably one of the best bargain signings in history.
