Of course he is but we aren't strapped for cash anymore and we've got the chance to nurture both him and a potentially brilliant young core of players together. Plus we kind of want to dispel this selling mentality.
*sigh*Heart says no, head says yes. For £60m we could come out of it a lot stronger.
We may disagree, but it sends the wrong message to the rest of the team to me. Not to mention public perception of us coughing up our brightest talents. We also can't guarantee successfully integrating 2/3/4 players we'd be buying to strengthen. I think the 60m is to ward off potential suitors though, because Barkley although very good is far too raw a player to be throwing that sort of money at.Agree with all of that, but 60 million is a title pushing amount if spent wise.
We dont need to sell to survive, but to kick on we may need to sell when the offer is silly.
Its not a title pushing amount. No way.Agree with all of that, but 60 million is a title pushing amount if spent wise.

60m to add to what we have NOW ... maybe. But that includes Ross.
Imo and again that's just my opinion, I'm not convinced that Barkley will reach the level we all want/hope/pray him to reach. No doubt a very good player, but not so sure he'll be one of the worlds best at some stage of his career. I' d have no problem him staying with us for the rest of his career, but as I doubt that he's prepared to do that £60m is an awful lot of money.*sigh*
We are not in the same position we were 10 years ago and that farce over Rooney. On and off the field we area lot stronger. Whilst 60m is a lot of money, its of my opinion that Barkley is on the cusp of becoming world class. We now have a spine at our club that could really blossom and take us places we havent been for many years. Stones, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku is that spine and all so young.
Losing Barkley, a piece of that spine, would 60m be enough compensation??
The lad hasnt even got going yet so its impossible to tell. I'd risk saying its not enough and I wouldnt even flinch at that money quoted.

I'd like to see if he can at our club though.Completely agree with you Dutch. He needs to step up one more level, in maturity and I'm not convinced he will.

Please? You'll get no disagreement on that from me.
