Ross Barkley

It was before that, Ross had the ball but no one to pass to so he went to move forward with ball but slipped and fell and lost ball in process. Very harsh for Woy to shout at him like that the bell, obvious he doesn't like Ross its like he just watches for Ross' mistakes than to watch and let him play with freedom than to criticise him like jeez i dont see him shouting at anyone else who loses the ball even if someone did in their own box. Hate Roy peed me off that did. Can't wait for the old kant to lose the job.
Seems to be the case, doesn't it?

I think all the noise surrounding Barkley is pernicious to his development. He just needs to keep his head down and play some good football for EFC. Too much BS flying about at the minute...and I include RM's over-hyping him in that

I'm not keen on Martinez overhyping Ross either but perhaps in this instance the reason he was praising Barkley was anticipating Roy knocking his confidence down whilst on the break.

He said Barry was the best holding midfielder in England on the same week that a similarly aged Carrick was chosen by Roy ahead of him. Barry will be much tougher than Ross but that has got to hurt a bit, perhaps the same principle is at work - publicly state you value them highly and hope they will be inspired to prove Roy wrong.

The onus is on RM to start playing him in his more forward position, and for 90 minutes. The lad needs to start getting lots of game time if he's to improve to the level he's capable of. His career to date has been far too stop-start.

Meh. England isn't doing his confidence any good it seems. Hodgson doesn't seem to trust him a great deal at present either. Not ideal.

Hodgson would much rather out a 10x worse player in there instead of Barkley if he tracks back. Its the way he thinks. He's simply an old fashioned dinosaur.

We will agree to disagree. Think Hodgson is relatively progressive as it stands, but his management isn't working for Barkley at the mo. Neither is Martinez's though. Think @mrb85 is right though. The lad has had no consistency or familiarity this season on the pitch.

Tbf he has only been fit for a month. Will aslo take him a while to get back to speed from his injury, he was in pretty poor form on his return from the broken toe last season for about 6 weeks and that was despite playing in a consistent position.

Might be a bit of reverse pscycholgy. He is only to aware of the hype around Ross and maybe doing his bit to keep it in check. If roles were reversed with say Wilshere, we would be saying hes an overated knob and whats all the fuss about.
