Ross Barkley

Cringing at some posts here.

20.

Not fit (Remember, he's just come back from injury...)

Played out of position.

Wasn't that bad.

Here lays the problem. Anything less than great equals gash. He has set the bar high so now it is expected of him to be great all the time.
Similar problem with Lukaku. We have 2 young players still with much to learn so ups and downs whilst learning doesn't seem acceptable. Now we have Naismith who was awful to begin with and has now reached an average level getting lauded above 2 youngsters whom have the potential to be great players. We are a hard bunch to please.

Christ man, would you rather have Barkley or not have him?

Would I rather have him? Of course, Buts that's not the discussion is it? There's a massive part of our fan base who seem to think this lad is going to be the next Gazza, I believe he's hardly shown anything to suggest that, A few good goals here and there and not much else

Like I said in the summer, We needed a proper AM in the transfer window, Barkley's lack of assists have a massive impact on the center forward, Look at Tadic ffs, He's setting up goals for fun

IF

"He's going to be a beast" then there is the IF because he may flop like Rodwell who all and sundry banged on about up until he left
Mate there is an IF with every young player. There's no ifs or buts that any of the "big clubs" in the league would love to have him in their squad because he shows so much potential. That's predominantly what you get with young players.

Nothing to do with injuries he could play atsu out wide or Naismith but chooses to move barkley to accomodate said limited player.

After jelavic you would think fans would be rise to throwing all their faith in a player having a purple patch but it seems not.

The fact the lad had barely no pre season and missed 8 weeks with ligament damage and has been shoved out of position and is getting slated and called over rated is a disgrace. Same arse hole fans slate lukaku and up until this season mirallas whilst they rim the likes of osman and hibbo for "giving 110% for the shirt"

I hope the dark days of lie tie and pistone never come back as you lot will soon realise how lucky we are to have players of lukaku and barkleys ability at the club
But if "limited" players are contributing more to the team than the raw talents, you fit the raw talents in around those in a purple patch. That's just common sense.
You are also grouping together loads of fans with vastly differing opinions and assuming they all have the same outlook when they don't. It just suits an argument.
You're also assuming its a given that Barkley will reach the upper echelons of the game, when it's nowhere near.

Martinez needs to keep him behind the striker and not stick him out wide to accommodate Naismith. As much as Naismith has improved this season, Barkley is the better player and should be played there. Martinez is trying to dodge making the big call by disjointing our entire formation and it is really frustrating to watch. Everyone in that ground can see it is not working with the two of them but the only person not seeing it is the one who makes the call.

Don't think he will be in a rush to push Naismith out wide again. He is dreadful out wide so dreadful that at Spurs last season the spurs fans took the p1ss out of him until he had to be hauled off.

How many goals/assists does Naismith have compared to Barkley in that position

OK you think Naismith is better than Barkley by throwing stats about. Each to there own but many a people would laugh at you.

Throwing stats about?

If someone lets say scored 7 goals and set up 6 and the other lad scored 5 and had 1 assist who would you say has contributed more?

Goals and assists aren't throw away stats ffs they win games
