Ross Barkley

Fellaini, Osman, Naismith, Pienaar, Neville, Coleman, Mirallas, Gueye, Oviedo, Heitinga, Anichebe.

11 players, in Gibson's absence. All got more chance of getting a game in midfield than Barkley, even if he had to stayed to bench warm.

If he's so great, he'll impress at Sheffield Wednesday and then he'll come back to us on fire.

Loaning out Barkley will have zero negative effect on us. It's hardly a Brenda-with-Carroll scenario.

Can Anichebe, Gueye, Oviedo, Coleman, Pienaar or Naismith play CDM?

Fellaini can play CDM, as can Heitinga and Neville.

Naismith, Osman, Mirallas, Pienaar can all play as attacking CMs if need be.

The point is, we have lots of midfielders who can play numerous different positions and barring a ridiculous injury crisis whereby 5 or 6 get crocked all at the same time, we'll be just fine.

Barkley wouldn't get a game even if he'd stayed, even with Gibson injured. The idea of Barkley going affecting Moyes options doesn't really stand up.

I'm in favour of the loan (as it's short term and will surely have a recall option in case of emergency, like Duffy last year). I just have no idea why you mentioned players like Oviedo and Anichebe.

Oviedo is left midfield cover, and Moyes has shown he likes playing Anichebe on the right wing occasionally.

Alright, admittedly it was a stretch. The point I was trying to make was that midfield wise, we'll be fine, and that the likes of Osman who can play on the wing and also centre midfield are of great use.

Hmm, you're quite right. My problem is that whilst we do have options I fear Moyes will just go for Neville in midfield over other, less excruciating options.

Here's the money shot then?
- Will we move Fellaini back from AMC to CDM?
- Or will we play mothereffing Neville in CDM from the start?

Free pack of Skittles in exclusively irish color to the winner.
Personally, i feel we should retrain Duffy to play CDM.
Put him in there with Felli, it would look like the ****ing world trade center.

I think Fellaini and Neville will both be playing as CDMs on monday.

I went to the game tonight. Ross came on at half time and did very little in a very poor Sheff Weds side totally outplayed by Brighton.

Ross played just behind Jay Bothroyd and was often frustrated as he saw very little of the ball so he came deeper to try and pick it up and influence things. His touch was ok and he dropped little short passes into his team mates but did little to improve his side in the half.

I tnink behind the striker is where he should play and where he can offer most to Sheffield Weds i.e. his creativity but you've spotted his weakness: lanquid movement. He needs to really sharpen up his game around the edge of the box to succeed at this level, and up it agian for the Premiership. If he can add sharp one-two's to his game and get some shots away then he will come back a much better player. Not saying that he can't do those thing it's just that he doesn't, same for using his left foot a bit more. Suspect that life has been a bit too easy for him in youth football and he needs to develop quickly if he's to grow into the player he could be.

One thing I noticed was that he didn't often come towards the ball and so often found the ball intercepted. This could be something he will improve a bit more with age but it's something he needs to work on as is his workrate when he doesn't have the ball

I reckon we'll play a midfield 5, from left to right:

Pienaar - Osman - Fellaini - Neville - Naismith

with Fellaini pushing forward to support Jelavic.

Mirallas will be on the bench and come on at some point in place of Naismith. Or Moyes might play Mirallas instead of Naismith from the start. Neville will almost certainly play CDM.

Why not play Mirallis wide left & move Pienaar into centre midfied stick PN at right back out of harms way
Or right back to the bench where our Captain should be? he is no midfielder that is for sure, proved that at WBA!

Cheers for that insight mate. Hopefully he will improve and this will be the making of him.

Well all these things he's saying he wasnt doing for Wednesday he was doing for the England youths this summer!. That just proves the one thing you did say was right is that at youth level, he's got it easy cos he's a class above!.

This is why he's gone out on loan, to try and emulate what he does at youth level in the big mans game. This stint is whats going to try and bring him on, up his confidence to try and play the way he does so freely at youth levels, cos he as got it in his locker to play the give and goes, the movement, eye for a pass with both feet and get a goal!.

Us Evertonians have seen in flashes last season what he can do, being at Sheff Wed is still a step up for him even in a league below and it will do him the world of good, wether he does well or not?!.

He'll definitely learn from this experience and it might not only be the loan move he as in his career at Everton?!.
