Ross Barkley

There's certainly an argument for that formation but I hope Barkley plays. He's a local lad and could well be our Gerrard, playing in games like this could be the making of him plus I worry that we would be too defensive with those three.
Think we would rely on Besic for our creativity if we played the three of them. It would be very defensive but it could work well, draw them out and open up space for one of Besic's pinpoint balls over the top to our forwards.

For me Besic has earned his place in the game, it comes down to Barkley vs McCarthy. I'm not sure where Barkley's head is at, being an unused sub in a game that will hopefully be the cliche "turning point" of our season can't be good for his confidence. On the flip side, Martinez could have done that in part to motivate him to show up and play to his potential. I also don't know how far along McCarthy is in his recovery, and I think I remember him taking a few games to get up to speed after he was injured earlier this season.

Regardly, I would hope all 3 of Besic, Barkley, and McCarthy be involved at some point in the game, and I hope whomever is left out won't feel too bad about having to make an impact off of the bench.

There are not any reserve teams, but letting him play in the under 21s and letting go to the internationals in the summer, would be better for him than playing badly in the seniors.
Thinking that just continue playing him, no matter how poor he plays, does him no favours at all.
False expectations that you have only put more pressure on him that his ability cannot match.
Keeping these expectation going will only add to his problems
I for one have never "put more " pressure on the lad.
Ive followed this lads progress since he was a kid.
Not seen many calling for Naismith to be dropped whose form has dipped off the scale lately.
The lad is class ask Maurinho Pelligrini & Wenger who would snap your hands off to take him.
Played centrally theres not many better than him around, yes his form has dipped but they all do
at an early age.He will come good again very shortly , tomorow can be the start of that.
Needs a bit of support not casting aside mate.

I think he should start.

Liverpool need to be put on the back foot, and that won't happen if Everton pack the middle with sitting players.

Get him running at Lucas/Gerrard from the off, otherwise it'll just be their players committing ours and we'll be down to ten before half-time.

Needs to put that little squirt Sterling in his place, whilst also announcing to the WHOLE of the world there's a new king on Merseyside!!

Come on Ross Lad!!

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. Would you play Besic and Barkley in front of Barry?

He looks like he's half listening to RM's advice/instruction and half listening to the lower Gladys... resulting in something pretty ineffectual altogether. But he might have a bit of fire in his belly for tomorrow and not be so pedestrian, and Naisy can be a better 'impact' sub in terms of making their back line work a bit (I think).

Funny how people put out of form as the same as can't be assed.

That's it eh! Ross decided few weeks back "You know what, can't really be assed the next few weeks, not gonna run or fight for the ball"

Yeah Ok......!

He's the same as he was last season but been playing in a poor team and ultimately dropped into poor form himself. Oh and bar the the last couple of games has been playing out wide ffs!

So Yep let's stick the talented footballer on the bench to make room for the hard working, limited as Fook footballer who pops up with a goal every now and then....

So everton and soooo depressing!

Nobody if beyond criticism. He has been the one backing out of challenges. I have no personal issue with anyone who is out of form as long as they give everything. Osman has had his day but he never hides away, he doesn't let the game pass him by when things don't go for it. Barkley does. Should have been dropped earlier and let someone who will try and take the game by the scruff of the neck play.

One hell of a talented player but he has been in off form and showing a clear lack of effort.
