Ross Barkley

Barkley could be a brilliant sub to bring on for Naismith in this against tired legs.

The kids going to come good again. He's too good not to

Watching this really p*sses me off at how much his confidence has gone down and it didn't even have to be that way. Martinez has put tons of pressure on him with the stuff he's said about him and then stuck him on the wing to be wasted. I'm worried about him at the derby, feel like it's make or break with him. If he starts pulling out of tackles and slowing everything down against them he'll get more hassle off the crowd then this whole season. It could just send everything spiraling even further down and I really don't want that to happen.

My heads in my hands at people wanting Naismith to start over barkley in a game like this.

ALWAYS start with your best! Which is barkley, watch that video if u need reminding. Ok he may be out of form at the mo, it may not work for him on any pitucular day...But THAT is when naismith is needed!! Ffs....

Amazing what working hard lets you get away with.
Exactly. We all know Barkley isn't good from the bench. We should start him and bring Naismith on at half time or early in the 2nd half.

It's a derby. There won't be any time on the ball to slow things down. These games normally come down to instinct. Personally I think it's the perfect game to get him firing again.

That's what I'm hoping for mate. I think he needs a goal to get him going.

Barkley to start, Naismith off the bench if required.
You play your best players.
Besides, Ross is a local boy, he knows what is needed in a local derby game. Expect to see the increased desire from him that we've wanted to see.

I hope Barkley starts and scores a goal like he did against City last year. Imagine....I'd be arrested I think haha. Naismith is a good player who can score important goals himself, he has fight and works hard which is something Ross needs to work on BUT Barkley can do something no-one can do in our team and make a goal out of nothing.
We have 2 holding midfielders and the wingers will track back so if he does lose the ball we should be ready. I hope we play him and let him make a proper name for himself this weekend

There we have it folks. MOST match goers are bellends.

Good job we get so much sense from all the match thread internet warriors isn't it.

im an internet warrior yeah? For what...thinkng that a grown man who screams abuse at a 20 year old kid is a bit of a [Poor language removed].

why don't you boo me, that's what your good at

I don't think Barkley's lacking confidence, rather he's getting confused by being over-instructed. He doesn't have much of a football brain, so he does most of what he does on instinct. But now he's invariably in two minds on whether to pass or go forward, whether to hold his position or go forward, whether to pass long or short, whether to shoot or move the ball on etc etc.

I'd start him on Saturday. Even when he's been crap, it's still usually been the case that he's produced the best moments of the match. We're going to need that threat. If we go with a defensive MF 3 behind him then he'll have the security of not having to worry whether his losing possession is immediately going to put our defence under pressure. He could keep out of our defensive third completely with Besic, Bary and McCarthy behind him and focus on doing damage at the other end of the field.

Barkley was man of the match and put in his best performance for Everton at last years goodison derby, id start him over naismith.
