If we played with more width and stretched the defense, it would give Ross more space farther up the pitch to go at players and create chances. An example is Yarmolenko's first goal in the away leg of our Europa tie. The right back gets it wide and plays it inside to him where we has space to run towards the box and score. If Ross fancies himself as a striker, he can still play a striker's game from the CAM position.

“I’m a striker,” he said. “I feel I can have my greatest impact there because I’m free to roam around the pitch, take players on, have shots and create chances.”

Haha I don't think anyone was expecting that. Everyone wanting him to be played deeper and he comes out with that. Fair dos though lad.

Ok

He probably would be best as a striker. He has the physical tools and technique to play upfront. For me his playmaking ability isn't good enough to play #10.

1 assist in near 70 PL games doesn't strike me as the statistics of a true #10.

I hadn't ever thought of it but it would be hugely interesting to see him play as a striker.
He certainly has the physique and a lot of the other attributes needed. In some ways he is like a young Rooney.

he's not a striker, is he. never even thought of it of him, has he ever played their in youths does anyone know?

Hes not talking about the old fashioned striker, hes talking about the modern football striker.

Which refers to most people along the attacking line.

You see, in the old days, Messi would be called a winger, but hes not, hes a Striker.

He means a number 10.
