Ross Barkley

He's a headless chicken and a defensive liability. Sell him.
He is the same player that he was two years ago and I can't see him becoming a better player than he is at the moment.

I'm lucky there aren't negative reputation points anymore.

I can remember people saying similar stuff about Daniel Cadamateri and Michael Branch. Maybe he will develop into a world beater, but at the moment he isn't very good at all, and we have more capable CM's and more capable second strikers at Everton, never mind elsewhere. I think we will hold Lukaku back if he has to rely on Barkley as a second striker.

He got into good striking positions yesterday, but his shooting was extremely poor. There are other players out there, who are within our budget, who would be testing the keeper at the very least given the position he was shooting from. We need that type of player imo, someone who can score and create from the number 10 position, or maybe from a bit further back in CM.

Eh? What, but.... Ah feck it, I give up!

The question is he good enough to be in our first 11 and are we weaker when he in the team? He got skill and quality but he got huge weakness, losing the ball a lot, taking to long to think, doesn't get stuck in, sometimes hiding from the ball.

Don't get me wrong and I do see that he can only learn from playing games and he not really keeping a special player on the bench.

Will Hughes is a better player right now

It's just an opinion mate. One which refers to the fact that it wouldn't be the first time that a young player has been overhyped as being a world beater, only for them to end up playing football in the lower divisions. I'm not necessarily saying that this will happen to Barkley, but nobody would have said that it would happen to Francis Jeffers at one point either.

I am also questioning whether he should be in our first 11 at the moment. And I certainly don't accept that we couldn't sign anyone better than him to play in the number 10 or attacking midfield role.

If Barkley was put on the market for £25 million pound tomorrow, there would be interest but there would also be quite a bit of hesitation from the clubs that were interested. They wouldn't be snapping your hand off at all.

To be fair with the new TV money, clubs would be queuing if he was on sale for 25 million.

I'm not sure they would. It would be a 25 million pound investment with a hope that his performances would improve drastically, because he is nowhere near a 25 million pound player on this season's performances. I'd go mental if Everton went out and purchased Barkley for 25 million, and I'd be looking at the quality of other players that could be signed for 25 million, as they are far better than Barkley at present.
