Potential dig at Barkley's defensive work rate from Baines in the echo?

Baines added: “It starts to embarrass people into doing it as well. If you’re not doing it and someone, who is not only giving you loads at the top end of the field but is also coming back and doing that, it embarrasses people into doing that.

Purely gossiping from myself but who else could it be about. Naismith has a good work rate, Osman only been back a few games and Mirallas has only played 5 minutes since he's been here.

The comment would have been about every single player except for the likes of Stones, Lennon and Naismith. That article then can be about any other player, Baines included. The lot of them have been an absolute embarrassment this season which all stems from a pish poor pre season.

It's a big season for Ross next year. Let's hope he has a rest in the summer and comes back the player we all hope he will be!

I think because he was so good last season we've all just expected him to kick on and be a world beater but he had the 1st 2 months out injured and then came back into a team that was struggling on form and confidence.

The same can be said about Lukaku, when the team is playing shiote players like Rom and Ross are just too young to rely on to change games, hopefully that will come and we can build a top 4 team around them two and Stones.

Sell one of them and we'll struggle

Speak for yourself - at no point have I expected Ross to be a 'world beater'.

Next season is a big one for him. He is old enough, experienced enough..now, big enough and talented enough.
It is up to him to make it happen. He must now start to dominate games..not all initially , but some... and he needs to build the team around himself, a bit like Gerrard did at Liverpool.
No more excuses, if he is played at full back, centrehal, centre midfield or striker he has the ability to make a big mark in a game and needs to start doing so.

...Something I have always done for you, Mr Elephant. The number of times I've respected your right to be wrong runs into hundreds. Its this genuine respect for the opinions of others that makes a forum what it is............................
I respect your right to be wrong about when I'm wrong

Ross barkley already gets into a rut recieving a pass from three yards and passing it straight back to the passer, I have been more critical of Barkley than most this season and although there has been a fractional improvemnt in the last few games, he has a lot to do to convince me of his future. We thought that this season would be his 'breakthrough' season but I feel that next season is the most critical in his career, a crossroads season, and we don't know where it will lead. Did anyone watch Rodwell for Sunderland yesterday...just highlights but how obvious was it how far away from what was expected from him as player?
steve wigan in not liking a technical player shocker, bet you are a big naismith fan

Am not saying he passes it straight back am saying he will have more confidence to take people do tricks do what ever he wants to do with knowing he has a man at the back he will win the ball back as soon as he looses it. Since Coquelin as come in the arsenal they've won 8 on the bounce in the league because he knows his roll and stays with cazorla with cazorla knowing that Coquelin is there to win the ball back when he looses it

I like what you're saying here tbh. McCarthy is one of the best ball-winners around and Martinez has mentioned multiple times that it's worth taking the risk of Ross losing the ball.
