If Baines wanted to take it he would have done. Barkley stepped up, good for him. He didn't score, not so good for him. That's all there is to it IMO.

I'm pretty sure after the Mirralas incident they have sorted who is taking penalties. Lukaku is first choice Barkley is second choice from the looks of it.

Can't believe how much stick he got from that penalty to be honest.

The plus point it did not effect his game, he played quite well imo - Barry was a big improvement today too. Evedently Coleman was shouting to Baines to take the pen?

Yeah I was worried it would effect his game, but he played well. I'm not sure mate didn't see that from where I sat.

Didn't seem to be the same fuss within the team about Ross taking the penalty rather than Baines apart perhaps from Coleman.

Presume was agreed beforehand rather than Ross being a gloryhunter?

The worst thing for me about the pen is that he sold himself out just as he was starting to run up - blatantly looked right at the spot he was aiming for

It was a poor pen , but that Burnley Keeper impressed me came off his line well the whole game, and made some crucial saves to keep it 1-0 unfortunately for us!

Penalty apart, I thought Ross was very good today.

He was really greedy today, think Rom was pissed off when he didn't pass to him when he was open on the right storming into the box and he took a stupid shot instead. Bad penalty, also didn't make an open pass to coleman in the early game before we were 1-0 up... in fact countless times he tried a shot surrounded by players instead of playing a winger in.

His decision making is really really disappointing.
