I haven't looked at lampard stats
But I'm pretty sure in his 1st 3/4 years in the Prem with west Ham and Chelsea
He wast scoring loads compared to what he was a few years later

i think Gerrad was the same

I'm not saying Barkley will go on to be a regular 20 goals s season player

But I'm sure it will improve with experience

Gerrard Stats
First season
App Goals
13 0
Second Season
31 1
3rd Season
50 10
4th Season
45 4
5th Season
54 7
6th Season
47 6
As we can see Gerrard took time to develop, he was on his
8th season before he got more then 20 goals.

Barkley career so far
App Goals
9 0
Second season
9 0
3rd season
38 7
4th Season
31 2

So he could easily improve those goal stats, he got the skills to do this. Gerrard was 25/26 when he scored over 20 goals

We all hope Barkley starts to improve but we need cover as no 10 as the priority position. We cannot have the Pale Messi playing as many games if we want to do well.

TBH bit worried that he doesnt look to be improving his final ball or decision making at all. Hes got all the physical attributes but lacks the brain and thought process for a high caliber number 10

I really don't know what game people are watching. The last couple of games he has set up so many attacks. From cm he is the only player that looks to feed the forward line. He is great at picking midfield splitting forward passes. His work rate is also better and he seems to have learnt how to win the ball back again. The only criticism I have is that his decision making in the final third is still poor but he will get there.

Agreed. He's been a great funnel for attacking passes through the centre recently.

This!

Technically, physically and natural ability, ross has ample more than lampard ever had.

He doesn't have that positional know how and knack of being in the right place at the right time to score goals regulary. And knowing when to shoot and when not.

Hopefully it will improve with time. But as you say he could do a lot worse than watching lampard's game.
Lampard has a a very IQ which could account for this.

He was really greedy today, think Rom was pissed off when he didn't pass to him when he was open on the right storming into the box and he took a stupid shot instead. Bad penalty, also didn't make an open pass to coleman in the early game before we were 1-0 up... in fact countless times he tried a shot surrounded by players instead of playing a winger in.

His decision making is really really disappointing.
Ross had a good game no other flair player in midfield with him to create!

Not saying he didn't have a good game, but he was greedy that's all. His decision making needs to improve.
His decision making would be easier if we insist on playing two defensive mid fielders, and we were short up front in Kone replacing Lukarku it leave RB with lots of responsibilities.
When he plays for England, he has better players around him he looks a class player, He has had some poor games this season , but how many midfield slots has RM played him in?
We have lacked balance all season look at the Manager to solve this not the brightest prospect we have had since Rooney!
