Ross Barkley

Thought he was useless today, shimmy, shimmy, stand still, look around, look down, oh some rotter has taken the ball away, how rude, dive, dive dive for a free kick.
That's all I ever see in Barkley.
WTF?? Thought he had a good game today. Every player in a blue shirt played great today and the most enjoyable game to watch this season.

He wasn't 'great'..he tried hard but still didn't produce much of what the hype says he has. He tired early in the second half and his previously average decision making became worse. He needs to learn to be 'aware'. There was a point when Mirallas pushed the ball into a wide open space, and if Barkley had geared up, he was through easily, but he just didn't move. Not saying he was as awful as he has been, but he certainly wasn't 'great' today. I think a lot of Evertonians need a reality check on the real quality or lack of it of Ross. Still hoping he 'makes it', but its not a given.

In reality though Steve he's already made it. Even of he stayed the same quality he is now he's still 9 times out of 10 getting in the first 11 and at worst getting sold for a huge amount of money.

I think he just needs to keep playing and it's with game time the things he needs to improve on he will and by the time he's 24-25 is where we will see the consistency and more goals and assists added to his game.

Dont know why theres a few complaints. Out of him and naismith id have ross over him ATM, he did a good job shadowing blind in the first half, hes started carrying the ball forward positively again and okay his final ball was still quite poor there were a lot more positives than negatives from him today

Yes I know what you mean. But I thought Ross had a much better influence today. He still needs to build on his decision making/timing/weight of pass. But he was 100% better putting himself about today and tracking back...areas where he has been lacking this season. We couldn't have survived a 50% Barkley the way the game was in midfield today and I thought he did well with some impressive runs forward too which had them worried.

My only criticism of him is that his decision making of knowing when to release the ball is his major weakness, closely followed by how often he wastes possession.

Get that out of his game and he's the real deal.

The expectations on him are absurd, especially given how shockingly he's been used by RM this season. What 20/21 year old in only his 2nd full season comes in and performs even better as a winger when his position is center mid/attacking mid? And slagging him off at the game isn't going to make him play better for the lids who do this

I agree, several times Rom made a run in behind but Ross choose either not to pass to him or delay it. Once he gets his head up and plays these through balls he'll add many more assists to his game
