Ross Barkley

I honestly thought he was dreadful for most of the match.

He did some nice runs and went past players, but each time it resulted in nothing. I'm incredibly harsh on Barkley, because i honestly just don't see the hype as a future legend. Yesterday Rom was screaming at him nonstop to put him through. Everytime Ross run into trouble and messed it up, Lukaku was in space or making a run time and time again.

He's actually stopping Lukaku's progression in my eyes. I hope that Barkley proves me wrong, i'd enjoy nothing more...but i just don't see it.

I have absolutely no idea what you are expecting of him but I cant help thinking that you are always going to be disappointed. He played beautifully yesterday. He played with energy, looked after the ball, kept the attacks moving with pace and provided a great outlet for the defence. I do think he is too reluctant too try a through ball at times, but I think that Rom is at fault here too. A lot of the time he was making his runs too early and ending up offside. Once these 2 start clicking together they will be unplayable. Sadly they wont be at Everton long either.

Does he though? Because all i ever see is him trying to take on every player while Rom makes run after run and never receives the ball? 2 assists in the prem this season
I watch games with my eyes, you can shove the stats. Ross attracts serious attention from the opposition, keeps them keen in midfield, freeing up space for Lukaku. He keeps things moving and puts balls out to the wings to be fed into Rom. He doesn't pass the ball into touch every 30 seconds like Naismith.

I just see him as wasteful if i'm honest. So many times all he needed to do was find a blue shirt in space, instead he danced around until he lost it.

It's frustrating to watch when he could easily give the ball.

Would you rather he tried a diffucult pass which might not come off, or kept possession?

TBF there were a few times a simple through pass was on and he hesitated and played the wrong pass, or played it too short.

Still no comparison though, ross over naismith every time

Bit harsh there ,Ross like all the team was very disciplined (and had to be).
Kept possession well & rarely gave the ball away .Played very well imo.

If "kept possession" meant not passing it at all even if the pass is a straight forward one, tried to dribble past 5 players and lose it/run into blind alleys - yeah, I'd rather he pass it.

With that said, he's still a great player, but his decisions making seems to get worse rather than better.

His decision making still needs a lot of improvement, he's obviously a talent but running past 5 players then playing a 5 yard pass backwards to a player he could have passed to after beating the first one slows an attack down rather than keeping it fluid. Once he starts to release the ball quicker he will become a brilliant player rather than just a good one.

He's definitely getting better over the past couple of months, he was dreadful at the start of the season.

Are these situations not ones he can go away and learn from? He can over complicate things but hos natural ability is what is creating the chances in the first place.
