RB is not the only blues player to have a poor season for us, and he is the youngest in the team in a good midfield that was balanced he would regain his confidence imo!

His deterioration in things like speed in the turn and getting a shot off reminds me of the deterioration in Rooney's game. Thing is, Rooney's deterioration has taken 10 years, Barkleys 10 months.

With players like Howard and Distin, they've proved what they're capable of over several years, it's just a question of whether they're still up to the job. Part of the problem with Barkley is that we're still debating whether he really has the ability to be that good a player. Even last season noone was saying he was the finished article, and he wasn't getting a lot of goals or assists from open play. This season the only game I can remember coming away talking about how well Barkley had played was QPR at home. In the first half of the season ok, he had injuries, he was played on the wing; but in recent weeks he's had plenty of game time in his favoured position in a team playing reasonably well, and for all the running and effort he's put in, his performances have been embarrassing.

Until the subs yesterday in which RB had a very poor game the whole dimension of our midfield changed why two faster wingers came on, he has been so poor, but Barry was worse slow should have seen red- until RM sorts our negative midfield out anyone centre mid will struggle as MaCarthy can do Barry's job ie we do not need two defensive midfielders !
