Ross Barkley

And backtracking? Where did I say he was a terrible player? I labelled him lazy player, a YouTube player because he drifted for 90minutes. You'd get 30 minutes of him involved in a game where he would shine. The rest of the game, he'd be quiet. All the players you've mentioned are all active for 90 minutes .

LOL did you actually watch Le Tissier or only his highlights?

He was what we could call now a YouTube player. Technically superb... But only ever turned up once in a blue moon, couldn't run, wasn't particularly athletic, didn't tackle, had zero defensive ability. He slotted like.

He was the ultimate luxury player and the reason why no club apart from Spurs made a bid for him after years off pulling the odd speccy out his arse 2 or 3 times a season. His lack of many international caps tells you all about how great he was as a player.

Care to backtrack further? :)

And I haven't said anything different. It's Tubey making it out that I've ripped Le Tiss a new one when all is said was that he was lazy with low work rate that put the bigger clubs off from buying him.

Yeah, it's all me, I'm making all of that up, really.

The man himself jokes about it every saturday on the tele. He knew his game had **** all to do with closing down and working channels and all that ****e so he never got asked to and never bothered.

Of course he was lazy, but it suited his game to be. He werent fit enough to tear-arse round the pitch for 90mins and if he did he'd be ineffective up front where he could hurt teams.

If Ross shows a lack of defensive discipline over the next few years but also shows enough talent for it to be worth our while carrying him, I'm sure we will.

All this writing him off ****e is an absolute joke. If he spends the whole season in the championship it'd be far too soon to make a judgement.

Most very good players don't start making an impact at PL level on a regular basis until 20-21 minimum.

I'm not writing off, he's a massive talent.

I just don't think Moyes will play him until he sorts a certain aspect of his game. Which he'll work on.

Was aimed at the people who are saying he's not going to make it mate, I agree Moyes wont give him a go as things stand. Judging by the players we've got and how he's doing at sheff wed, I'd say thats about right at this point.

Fair play. Stick me on ignore.

Why? I don't think you're a bad lad at all, I just think what you said was a bad howler and we're talking football!!!

Search Adam Hammill or Dale Jennings in the vault and see some of the utter tripe I've came out with on here - we all do it! It's a football discussion at the end of the day :)

For me Ross is an attacking midfielder, behind the striker. He doesn't need that defensive side if he plays well enough there, but Wednesday are trying to play him deeper.

Agreed, Playing O'grady up top on his own you would have thought they might have asked ross to just tuck in behind him, he did seem to sit deep just spreading the ball about though more like a playmaker type role.

Really hoping they extend his loan, i would even be happy if it was for the rest of the season, i know there's all these mixed views on how he's been preforming but there's really nothing better than first team football. Nothing against Wednesday but i originally thought we could have found a better suiting team for him, one with very good defensive structures so he can push up the ground much more and really attack games but then i thought if he only has to worry about attacking he won't learn as much.

In the Premier League you need to be able to attack and then you need to be able to defend sometimes you need to do both in the one play. If Barkley went to a team where all he has to do is attack then he's never going to learn anything about defending and been at a team that is currently struggling he has no choice but to start pushing back and being far more careful with possession and that's exactly what this loan is about, Ross learning new things and developing as a player.

dont understand why moyes doesent just throw him in the team and see what he does. usually its just confidence, look at mcclean last season for sunderland and sterling this season.

IF it doesent work out then send him on loan,
Moyes did this to rodwell aswell eased him into the game too slowly, rodwell always had the maturity and intelligence in his game to cope with the premier league aswell.

Barkley's loan has been extended, but only on a 'week by week basis', which sounds a little bit bizarre.

I think if I was a player on loan, I'd want more than a weeks' notice.

Should just make it until January 1st and review it then.

Happy enough with that tbh, means we can recall him whenever we want especially now were picking up injuries & suspensions.
